since having my last major episode which was a long time ago now (5 years) I am growing into a greater strength and awareness about my illness and I am grateful for it. I am definitely more even in my temperament.
I find too my sense of 'relationships' has gotten a lot more realistic and better now that I am clearer on my life and the things in it.
Don't get me wrong though, I am not struggle free. I'd like to have some 'home base' relationship aka a' significant other '- I find myself wanting that more and more. For now, I am focusing on my family and the few friends I have for daily contact. Coming to this site is definitely a safe haven.
I have relationships at work, but I do tend to be more the silent type - and stick to my direct responsibilities.
I know and have to remind myself that life is filled with different kinds of relationships.
Does anyone else feel at a loss for creating and sustaining productive healthy relationships? I feel like that is the last key to the puzzle for my future. I am so uncomfortable around others and 'don't know if I am doing it right' (relationships) but I need to seek out for myself some people that I can group around.
My struggle and confusion make me think of the different nature of different relationships as I mentioned above. Some are close, some are very superficial. Some are mixed with anxiety and occasional connection. It's all a mixed bag.
I see others who are so at ease giving out supportive kindnesses to others. I admire that. When I try to do that my heart feels like I will fall into the abyss sometimes. Anyways, thanks for reading this weird post.

If your like me and have been friends with someone that's pretty much slept with everyone in a room but you .Can really mess with your self esteem as well. So you can get that you're a nice guy and I don't want to hurt you bit.
Doesn't worry me to much now but was a time I had no idea of how to get into a relationship rather then friendship or affair. It's just one of things we have (had) to contend with as a male in the 80's 90's 2000. Like most things no one knows if it best to let it come to you or just go out and find it. It's all a learning curve.
The newness of where I will go will give me a 'blank slate' with regard to community. I am not sure yet if ti's the right thing but I have started the process. If I decide not to move, I could always stay where I am.
Part of me suffers from an enthusiasm that idealizing the future can bring. LIke suddenly I will be able to create a community (since it's a new place.)
Likewise I might feel like suddenly I 'll be able to get a great job - though I don't know where these new skill-sets will come from or the experience needed to be employed in the field might suddenly materialize.
I am trying to keep a lid on my sense of fantasy about stuff and trying to keep rational and wise (circumspect so I can tell if I am making a rational realistic choice.)
I just went to the Pharmacy today to pick up a script. I was thinking about all this and just felt so down in the dumps. I began thinking about appreciating others in the sense that we're all stuck in jobs and or relationships that might not be what we want. I was down, but I realized it's important to reach out and make another person happy. I may be depressed but I don't want to be a 'drag.'
I felt better. The person I reached out to also gave a nice smile. :)

My boyfriend is wonder. This sounds weird, but his schizophrenia is something that he never hid. I know when he smiles at me, it is so genuine. When he tells me I am his beautiful princess.. I believe him. I also have learned that when he is "in his head".. I can read it on his face. There is this wonderful level of genuineness.
He worries about the stigma. He doesn't want my friends to know. I told him that I won't tell anyone, as long as he doesn't give cause. We don't go "out" with a lot of people at night if he has not had a lot of sleep. I told him that I know when I feel .. things coming on.. all he has to do is squeeze my hand, and we can leave.
If there is any advice of what a good SO can do for you, any advice would be really wonderful.
He is 26. He is beautiful, I love everything about him. I know a lot of people can be rude, or they don't understand. There are people out there that aren't jerks! Don't give up hope..
