Are you talking about email notifications? If so, maybe you just want to go to your settings for this site and turn off the email notifications. I turned mine off a long time ago.

Honestly, I'm beginning to wonder if this new website is the cause of my eyestrain.

Still here! I hate the new format. Got laid off from work in 2015. Could not find another job at 59 years old. My RA got worse so I filed for Disability. First three months got denied. I hired a lawyer for the appeal. Hope to get something by December. I don't go on the site as much. Working on finding a new med. Enbrel is not working very good any more.

I'm still here, but only until I find something better. This sucks

There are no settings to change email notifications. You have to do it from one of the emails you receive by clicking on "unsubscribe". It takes a day or two to take effect. A very lame way of handling user settings. I suspect that this kind of annoyance and the screwed up way they handled the user login function when they changed over caused a huge drop in activity. Some corporate web services executive should be fired.

Where I live they don't have any support groups and when I looked on line I found this one. I really need support from others who share with the RA process as you know it can be very difficult at times with the medications, pain, and stress it can cause. Ty in advance.

It's quite possible that what you are seeing is a canned bulletin board/forum/website format that Dailystrength/Sharecare purchased. There a few small tech companies that now produce such products for enthusiast and organizations that run forums and once the decision is made to buy a canned product, that one-size-fits-all design is here to stay. The market is there, obviously, so that the administrators don't have to employ staff to continually maintain and update the basic structure. I collect antique cars and am a docent at a local car museum and am involved with a few car collector forums. Most of them were started by members who spent countless hours programming the original format and later got burned out and either sold the forum to a commercial information concern or bought such a canned product themselves. The days of the lone, sometimes amateur internet designer/programmer are over.

It's also possible that Sharecare is large enough (they just bought a company with 1700 employees) that they came up with this new design themselves. There aren't any ads on it yet and I don't see any credits for a web design firm anywhere. If that's the case, there is hope that their design staff will eventually hear our complaints and make changes. Rest assured that these site administrators and designers, whoever they are, are probably younger and more nerdy than the actual users, think they know everything about what users want and need, and will, in the end, continue to pursue their own sense of what looks good and works. (I hate this tiny, 3-line text entry box, by the way. Hmmm… I just discovered you can click and drag the tiny diagonal lines in the lower right corner and make it larger. No indication that's possible, though, and you have to do it each time you write a post.)

It hasn't been said, and it isn't the WHOLE reason this new site looks the way it does, but the new forum design is now coded as what's called a "responsive" design. Eventually the entire web will go that way because they are designed to work with any screen size be it a smart phone, tablet or desktop. You can tell a responsive site if the elements on screen begin to scale and reposition themselves when you make the window smaller. Try it with this site.

Older, "fixed" sites were designed for the typical desktop screen of its day and your browser will put small sliding bars on the side and bottom of the window whenever it gets smaller than the dimensions that the site was originally designed for. That doesn't work on tiny smart phone screens very well. It is possible for site administrators to develop multiple fixed designed sites that are automatically accessed depending upon what kind of device is being used, but that is extra work for each type of device and isn't as common.

An unavoidable result of responsive designs is that pages are invariably designed to have fewer elements, less "bit-mapped" things like photo images that aren't scalable, and more blank space that can be scaled without being noticed. It doesn't have to be so stark and simple as this one, though.

I'm not seeing any way to make this text window larger. It is my biggest complaint, now that the member forums are being fixed so that admins and founders can be changed.

I find it tragic that the only active threads in this forum are about how much we dislike this new format, what can be done or not to change it, does anyone know a better place! This was a wonderful forum, such a sense of community and caring. Who knew a format change would destroy that?

You asked about face down - that refers to the recovery. For about 6 weeks AFTER surgery your face has to be at least 45 degrees from the floor 24/7. The reason for this is because they insert a gas bubble with facilitates the closing of the macular hole.

Forgive me if I'm stating the obvious, but for those who have difficulty reading the text on this page (or any page) you can use the zoom feature on your browser on a page by page basis, or you can permanently change the text size in your browser settings. You can also set your browser to use your preferred font. And I know that Chrome has accessibility settings where you can enhance colors and contrast. Also, when it comes to color, keep in mind that your monitor's display settings might need to be adjusted. I have no issue with the way the colors look on my computers.

Yes, the web designers should have had accessibility in mind when they designed the web site, but, if you really like this group, there are work arounds to resolve some issues. They might also improve your web browsing experience in general.

I had a rough time getting here, but here I am. I hate this! I totally agree with what everyone has said about the new layout. I don't believe there's one positive thing I could say about the change. I don't even know how to go from one group to another! How could the powers that be think this is an improvement?! I don't know how long I'll be here.

I think the issue that many people have - at least I do - is when they reply. You can see only two lines of text and that's it. I cannot enlarge the text box. A solution: write your full text in MX Word or another document software; copy and paste it into the DS reply box. It's a simple workaround and by no means a final solution. The developers should get off their tushes and resolve this.
