is it common to have a vitamin D deficiency with RA? I had a positive RF blood test (it was above normal) and deficient in Vitamin D.
I have posted here before. I had all the symptoms but the doctor said because I didn't have red swollen joints he couldn't say I have RA. he did say I was at very high risk to develop it.
he said I have osteoarthritis badly and he diagnosed me with fibromyalgia which I think is a crock.
the reason I bring it up is that I got a call from the nurse and she said that the doc wanted me to start taking Vitamin D. he called in a prescription...it is a high dose and I take one a week for 12 weeks.

My rheumatologist (not the original) took a long time before pronouncing RA. I had fibromyalgia and OA for a number of years as my official diagnosis from him. I knew better but didn't argue the point. was really really bad when he finally said "raging RA". So bad that I was at my first stint in disability.
