I have rarely taken pain meds in the last 18 years. For the first years, I just suffered in silence, which was incredibly stupid. Then I got on something that worked, and didn't need pain killers. Now, meds that don't work fully, and pain killers seem to be necessity.
As for you, I think you need to push for a rheumatologist and sooner, rather than later. Get the disease under control, and be happy you have something that also works for the pain.
I do hope you can get a diagnosis. Also I think there is someone else in this forum with Parkinson's and RA. You might want to talk to them. Sorry, I don't remember who it was!
