Don't know about remicade, but RA seems to be making me bi polar like. never had so much fluctuations in my mood in my life. sorry you are having so many struggles, and I hope it gets better soon.

How long have you had RA? It's been a year since I was diagnosed, and I went through a long period of depression, and I've noticed that while usually I deal with it fairly well now, I do have episodes of depression that just sneak up on me. I definitely would ask your rheumy or pharmacist about the remicade, some medicines certainly affect your mood. I have IC too, there was a post on that board this weekend by a urologist that said they think IC is another auto-immune disease. What do you take for that? I take hydroxizine at night, it helps me sleep. Praying for you!

RA does that for me too. Some days just looking at something sad, or cute, I just burst out crying. I write the most depessing poems, and journal entries.
It's part of RA, sometimes it's even a sign your going to flare up. I take orencia, the remicade will be next in line for me. I hope it's not remicade, or I will be crying all the time.
I'm 54 It might be my hormones, although RA made my period stop. So I am menoDONE. Haha
My infusion nurse told me the remicade is a stronger medicine. I wonder why they didn't let you try the orencia first. Orencia sure takes away the fatigue.

Most, possibly all, RA meds, including Prednisone, can cause mood changes in some people.

I was not on remicade long enough to have a problem but I had severe mood issuses with orencia and humara. Doctor had never heard of it doing that and took me off and my mood went back to normal. I think it one of those one in a million side effects that basically never happens but when it happens to you it really sucks. I hope your doctor can figure it out for you.

You said you were not on Remicade long enough did you have a reaction to it? I am really questioning if I should even get teh second one since it has caused so much pain in my b ladder, I have a call inot the dr, if you can't take orencia or humira what do you use now?

Im on remicade and have not had this problem, on the other hand pred and mtx did this. we just found out that pred causing major lower leg edema and headaches, the mtx caused server gerd and I had to stop. the best thing I ever did. so maybe look at or other meds

I had mood swings so bad on prednisone and mthx that I WAS diagnosed bipolar. Since I got off the prednisone in particular, I have not taken a bipolar med in 6 years. It is a recognized side effect of prednisone in the medical compendium.

Rituxan does not seem to affect my moods at all. As for depression, about 95% of all people go through depression when they are fist diagnosed. Part of the grieving process, which I wrote a post about a while back. It was good to know it wasn't just me, when the insurance nurses told me it was a normal response to being diagnosed with a debilitating and painful disease.

I just had my third Remicade infusion today. I also take methotrexate (the two drugs usually go hand in hand). I've not had any mood changes associated with Remicade or MTX. Depression and feelings of negativity are serious matters and you should talk to your physician about this as soon as possible. Dealing with a serious disease is a heavy load for anyone to carry alone.

By the way, since starting Remicade, I have already seen an improvement in the way I feel, particularly less fatigue; still have some inflammation and swelling. I receive my next infusion in six weeks. I hope that you are able to continue taking the infusions and that they work successfully for you.

I think I would talk with doctor about the depression, etc. Good luck and hang in there. We're here for you.

My one friend keeps telling me that enbrel is not
