Rheumatoid Arthritis Support Group
Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, inflammatory, multisystem, autoimmune disorder. It is a disabling and painful condition which can lead to substantial loss of mobility due to pain and joint destruction. The disease is also systemic in that it often also affects many extra-articular tissues throughout the body including the skin, blood vessels, heart, lungs, and...
Good luck with it

I hope that you get to feeling better. I think that will help with the patience. It is hard to concentrate or take on more when you are already overwhelmed with this disease and the pain that it brings.
I'm really glad in a way that I'm single with no kids.... I think I might have killed them by now. Kidding. I used to be the most forgiving, patient, mild mannered person on the face of the earth.
Frequently now I can be seriously considered a B**ch. Maybe its the way I should have always been... looking out for me first instead of everyone else first. If that makes me a bit B**chy then so be it.
Now I call people on thier bulls**t.
I now will not hesitate to tell it how it is. Call it like I see it. Speak my mind. I am sure my hubby thinks I am mentally ill sometimes!

I have tried to be more patient, i mean with myself, you can't hurry up doing something if your body isn't allowing you to go at full speed. so I have tried to learn patience in that regard, but in other things, no, I have no time for silly shit. yep I said it. basically.
Petty stupid insignificant crap, is what I call it. Pretty much similar to what you are saying Andrea.
i think when you go through the bs that we go through, life just takes on a whole different meaning, things that once perhaps meant something doesn't mean a thing to me now and I don't care and don't have patience for.
I do get short sometimes but i try really hard not to with my husband and son, but yeah I just snap at them sometimes.usually when i am having a particularly hard time and in pain, I just get so aggravated and aaaaaaaargh. Everything just irritates me.
And I want things done NOW, not later. and I get sooooo frustrated because I have to rely on someone else to help me with something and it doesn't get done in my time, but in their time.
Drives me nuts. LOL
I try all the deep breathing, and I was meditating, somehow that died a very quick death, got impatient with it......Ha ha ha lol lol....
i will try again at the meditation. it does help, just have to be consistent with it.
Know you aren't alone :)

Someone actually gave me this on a coffee cup once upon a time ago (when I was much younger). I have always struggled with patience, but have learned the lesson that you don't want to pray for it... omgosh... I will never forget that lesson!
I am trying to work on the "accepting" part of patience. Prednisone makes the task harder, but I am easily knowing when I am being less than pleasant. (Trying to become a Southern belle by transplant, as Jess put it so well, although I will never be quiet.)
Hey, Charlie, tell me more about the problems you had with gabapentin (Neurontin) and how to best taper off of it. Currently tapering off the prednisone, at 5 mg now, and I am feeling lots less irritable. Prednisone will take away any patience you may have once possessed! (along with eventual bone mass... if you don't know the long term effects, you need to look it up)
I am doing better overall with patience, getting things done when I can, rather than right now, and being okay with it. More patience with others that are not in my social or family network, such as people I come into contact with at a store, etc. I do try to be as patient as I can with hubby, family and friends.
M06455, can you link the impatience with medications? Or is it stress from the pain? Or is it because you have a more limited amount of energy? I think the knowing why, and where it originates can help you manage it.
