Oh boy a cold.. what next....

I took off from work today to go to MD appts. and try to get some rest. With the humidtity, it has cause asthma to start to flare up in me along with RA aches and pain, knee pain from the knee drama I am having and on top of all this a cold. I am so trying to shake this cold as I am due for Rituxan treatment on Tuesday, July 23rd. the next one on August 6th and then a week later Arthroscopy of the knee. I cannot have a cold and get the Rituxan. My Rheumatolgist will send me right back out the door if I have a cold. That I know. And the next appts. available for Rituxan with the nurse are in September. That won't work. That is probably why I am feeling crappy now because I am due for an infusion treatment along with the other things that are going on. Have been resting since I got home yesterday evening and will take tomorrow off if need be. Been drinking tea with lime and fresh mint leaves, and I used the Netti pot, but so nasally congested that I couldn't get full effects of it. Hopefully will be better by the weekend.

When it rains it pours, as they say. Nothing is easy with these darn autoimmune diseases. I hope that you feel better and get the cold under control so that you can get your treatments. Have you ever tried Zicam? It has been very effective for me and my family in the past.

When I get horribly congested I add some Alkalol to the netti pot. It can be intense, but it works. The label describes it as a "mucus solvent and cleaner." It is inexpensive and a bottle will last a long time. You should be able to find it in a drug store.

I am wishing you well. I hope you feel better soon. You are so encouraging and uplifting to everyone on this site. I'm really sorry you're sick. Maybe your good karma will help you heal faster, lol.

Well, this is Wednesday, and you have until Tuesday- not out of the question that you could be over it by then. Get all the rest you can. If you are due for an infusion rather than having just had one, maybe you can fight the cold off quicker. Summer colds are such a nuisance. Not sure if they really are worse, or if it's just that you aren't suppose to get a cold in the summer.

I'm so sorry Christine! Have you tried Vapor Rub? There's also a vapor bath salt....maybe soaking in a hot bath with vapor will help.

Oh wow Christine - you have really had to deal with a LOT lately! : (
I am hoping for a very fast recovery from the cold so you can get your treatment. I think it is definitely possible you can recover by Tuesday - sending you all my warmest wishes and hugs for FAST RELIEF!

Hi guys, thank you so much for all the well wishes. I actually put my self on the Zpack because I had to get rid of whatever bug was trying to attack me. I have not tried Zicam before nerot, but I did use the netty pot which was excellent in cleaning me out, nasally and I used the Vicks vapor rub. I went to work today. Was busy, but not as bad as Tuesday. One more day and I will be on vacation so I can get some rest and do some house projects. Thanks again guyst for your good thoughts, well wishes and your hugs. I will make it to hose appts. on the appointed dates looks like.
