Oh, yeah. Both of mine started up last December, about two weeks into my time on Enbrel. All three of the joints in each one joined in the fun. They've settled down some, but if try to get fancy, like peeling an orange, they scream. It's just rainbows and unicorns, you know?

LOL, I have a glittery rainbow unicorn on my Crocs that I wear to make my feet happy...the Crocs, not the unicorn. Should post that as my avatar.

Nothing is touching this thumb pain.

Part of the reason nothing helps is that we use our thumbs ALL the time. Some other joints you can manage to take the pressure off a little, but opposable thumbs are what make us human!

You are officially part of the "are we having fun yet?" crowd. Try isolating the thumb as much as you can, I have tons of make shift splints I keep just for these occasions. You might think it looks dumb, but it beat the heck out of owie owie owie. Have a good rest of the evening. Trish

Yes... it sure can be fun adding joints eh. Almost as fun as trying to figure out which toe(s) hurt the worst... I caught myself doing that and then contemplating strapping them together... sometimes they feel like one giant toe anyway ;-)

My RA started "officially" with thumb pain. That's what sent me to the doctor for help. Thought I was losing my pinching ability.

In hindsight though I know my RA started prior to the thumbs.

yes confoosed ..then had a nerve test to see if it was carpal tunnel..slight carpal tunnel ..but more casued from RA ..it shurts super bad and we need our thunbs for almost everything we do with our hands especailly buttoning a button ..etc....you know you can buy those arthritis gloves and they sure help or a wrist splint from the drug store or evren use the heat up buckwheat bag and use that in teh evening..i also use tiger balm from teh health food store ..for a deep heat sensation and all natural ..luv that stuff ..goodlcuk

oh yeah, base of the thumb fun!!! my right thumb is at the base is bigger than my left one. No real pain thank goodness.

I purchased some heated arthritis gloves about a year ago. Love them. The plug into a USB port on my laptop and the fingertips are removed. My only complaint is that I would like for them to be a little longer so my wrist could be better heated as well.

I didn't know there was such a thing as heated arthritis gloves. I have been wearing arthritis gloves for about a year now and they really help. I just wish they came in fashion colors, as I am getting bored with the black and beige. It's not like people don't notice black or beige, so why not hot pink?

I found them on a medical supply site. I'll try to remember the name and post a link.

And thanks Tami and RCross for the possible relief. I'll go lookin for braces soon. Maybe I'll dig out the ol' heating pad.
