Rheumatoid Arthritis Support Group
Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, inflammatory, multisystem, autoimmune disorder. It is a disabling and painful condition which can lead to substantial loss of mobility due to pain and joint destruction. The disease is also systemic in that it often also affects many extra-articular tissues throughout the body including the skin, blood vessels, heart, lungs, and...
So no bleach, Tide detergent, Oxyclean etc. They stop the growth of bacteria, which was your problem, I believe!
I seriously refuse to believe mthx was the cause of your problem!

The tank was new and did not get an opportunity to build up a colony. We are low water users, thus the mtx stayed in tank one longer than probably at most. So, it did not take much to kill it.
First time I ever had a septic tank fail in 50 years... and at my last house, I did have teenagers showering and using all types of personal products and washing clothes all the time.
Really just letting folks know it does happen in case it happens to them. Some folks have more than one household member on mtx, so they might be more susceptible. The fix was easy, so thought I would share.!
BTW, I do recommend mtx
Best of luck. They take a while to work, but it's worth the wait.
One of the things I read about MTX is it's an excellent drug but many people don't ride out the side effects long enough and get off it. Like most drugs side effects go away as body adjust. Guess I'll see. Glad I take mine beginning of the week.....I am too active Friday through Sunday, would hate to feel crappy then.
it hits me about 10 hours after the injection. therefore i inject in the morning. and no I don't sleep through it - it kinda affects that night sleep and it definitely also ruins the next day. BUT overall it makes the other days better and overall the side affects have gotten easier, maybe. at work full time i injected 10. i only inject 5 now at home and I have to say honestly this is a freakin' cake walk man. how the hell can i complain when I am not commuting or falling asleep at my desk or doing my work inefficiently or losing it (you know the leucovorin and injectable did not work and the diarrhea won won won won) in the handicap bathroom....of course if you are working you have my hugs - ask the rheumie if you can cut back the dose and figure out the optimum hit time for you.
thanks for the septic talk. i'm still stymied. spoke to a lof folks and this entire town is septic you know since the pilgrims...we are the idiots that think that fluoride is communism and trash pick up is heresy. the guy next door's wife had high test chemo as opposed to our low dose ra mtx and his 37 year old tank just passed for sale. the 70 year old buck down the street told me that 30 years of mtx and the same home and septic and not a surprise yet. i have one tank and a leaching field and i pump annually. maybe my system is lucky and old and yours is unlucky and new? I am sorry for the horrendous cost. i don't blame you for pooping off site...i would also....i just don't quite know where..I will mention it to the rheumatologist. are there any sanitary engineers on this site with RA? I would love to hear your two cents also.
i really don't know what the solution is. am I supposed to go to the bathroom elsewhere than my home?
this might be a dating angle I could work.
