I am very new to this as I was diagnosed last monday.
But this past thursday I was telling my husband that my armpits hurt, they were just aching.

I had the armpit pain this summer for a few weeks. I am quite new at this too - since May/June but i sure am learning a lot from good people in this group. If you find out the cause let us know!

Is there any chance that the armpit pain is more shoulder pain radiating through the arm? I have hip pain that is so deep that sometimes with so much pain I can feel it not only in the groin area, but on the side of my hip and out the back of my legs by the buttock area. Sometimes joints just radiate such incredible amounts of pain.

I do light bearing weight excercises to increase the strength in my upper body. It seems to have really helped. Possibly talk to your RD and see if you can get some simple excercises or see a PT to have you maximize any strength you do have in those areas? Doesn't hurt to talk to the doc and see what they say.

My fatigue is an all over fatigue. When I am in a flare, my whole body hurts. My upper arms are weak, and I have been meaning to start some light arm exercises. Maybe I will try to start those tonight. No time like the present. You might want to try some heat on your shoulder and see if it helps...or cold, depending on whether nor not you have swelling.

I can relate to your situation. I have been dealing with this since this winter. I have had an MRI, physical therapy, and now a CT scan. I will find out the result of the scan tomorrow. I am getting frustrated with the looks and attitudes of the "it's all up in your head".

Thanks, all, for some good suggestions. Sometimes it helps to know other people are having similar pain. It may be shoulder pain that is deep; it may be radiating from the spine...it is hard to tell when everything hurts. @MsSass: I am sure we'd all like to hear the results of your scan. So much of this is not knowing what is going on!

If anyone is still looking at this post, you might be interested to know that I have been diagnosed with celiac disease. This is a cause of the pain, muscle weakness, etc. Some of you may benefit from investigating this.

Do you mean your dx of coeliac is in addition to RA?

sounds like costocondritis. Unfortuanatl I am very familiar with that pain.

Believe it or not my pains were a deep muscle issue in my neck just below my ear. The muscle irritation affected my neck, shoulder all the way into my armpit....... Physical therapy - weeks and weeks, months and months - finally gave me the TENs unit. After wearing it for two days straight, the muscle finally released. MAN!!!!!!!

I continue to have issues and wear the TENs unit frequently.

I am finding that when I sleep I am holding my neck in a weird position....... I am going to try wearing a neck brace to bed and see if that works. Oh, and when I drive in the big city I tense up and hold my head in a real tense position.......
