I have tried mtx 2 different times and I just cannot tolerate it for the very reason u stated. The fatigue and brain dog were more than i cld handle, so I'm now on Arava and Plaquenil.

Could u just cut it in half? Would that help? If bad weather is headed your way then you might go into a Dmard.

Have u talked to ur rheumy about it?

I normally take mine on Tuesday night however this week it's Christmas Eve and I have grandchildren here until early Christmas evening. So I'm postponing til Wednesday Christmas night at bedtime.

I can see how you would want to spend a good week with your kids but I would be nervous to just skip a whole week, maybe call and check with rheumie about that.

i skipped a week and didn't realize how much it was helping me. it was definitely bearable, but i really didn't notice a difference in fatigue/brain fog over that week. the only thing i noticed was more swelling and pain lol. good luck, whatever you decide!

My rhuemy let me skip a week when my son got married. You will be fine, and have a super duper Christmas.

I was off for 6wks for dental surgery. The first 2 wks were ok. After that I was really feeling it. Since I also take Humira I wasn't sure which was affecting me at first. Moving it back a day or two shouldn't effect you too much. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. If you take pills you might want to switch to injections. Works quicker & less nausea because it bypasses the intestinal tract.

I have occasionally skipped it altogether with no problem. This week, I took it on Sunday night so that I could feel OK on Wednesday and Boxing Day. However, I have been taking it for four years so it may be different if you are fairly new to MTX

Earlier this year I blew getting a refill on time emailed my doc in a panic cause I missed a week and he said not to worry, it stays in your system for at least a month. Enjoy your Christmas. Trish

A skipped a dose about 4-6 weeks ago because I was sick. Felt great the next week and got rid of my cold faster. I came down sick again last week, didn't skip my dose and now have it worse than when it started.

I also came off of it for about 10 weeks the beginning of this year for surgery. I didn't start feeling any pain until about 6 weeks after surgery. In fact, it was the best 6 weeks I've had since being diagnosed.

I don't think mtx likes me very much. :(

i had to skip it for one week when i was on antibiotics 6 days for my cold. i didnt realise how much it was helping until then. i had a flare next week. never think of skipping mtxt. scared of cold/sinus. so i take better care not to get cold. i take my mtxt on saturday nights. no side effects. i do pretty good. so i dont skip it for this christmas.

I'm not planning on skipping because my disease activity just ramped up again and I fear the damage it's doing in the meantime. We'll just schedule a "Let mommy sleep" day a day or two after the dose.
