I found a Dr thru the Roadback Foundation.
I used Plaquenil, mobic, Relafen, and methotrexate in the past. None of those worked, and I became allergic to 3 of them. The methotrexate gave me Megoblastic anemia. I only used Prednisone 3x, because I know what happens if you abuse it. The body won't make its own steriod and will become dependant on the synthetic steriod.
So that's when I started doing my own research, because the Rheumatologist couldn't answer any of my questions. Go figure, someone that's supposed to be a Master of the disease couldn't answer my questions.I knew there had to be more, hence my investigation.
I know its a lot of info to learn, but in my opinion, its darned worth it!
I'm taking charge of my own health and stop relying on some Dr's who throw pills at ya like they are candy.
The Dr who is treating me now is 2 hours away. But in my opinion, is worth the drive.

Where do you live? I have start to take control of my body also. The medications I have been on have caused damage to my adrenal glands and also put me in premature menopause. Now telling if they have hurt any other organs. I have a appointment with an endrocologist ( don't know if I spelled that right ). What type of doctor are you seeing?

Dana, I live in Ohio, my Dr is in Indiana. If you want a Dr that gives the treatment. Join @ www.roadback.org and request an AP doctor that already knows how to give the treatment and find your root cause. That is where I found the Doctor I am currently seeing for mine.

I sure hope it works for you... it didn't for me. I did Minocin for 3 years. and all that other stuff too. It worked for a friend of mine for 10 years but he recently had to go back on Arava.

Good luck! I have been on antibotic theraphy ( 200 mg minocycline) daily for many years. My rheumy wanted me off the drug that put me into remission because she feared the bad results of taking an antibotic long term. Within a short time my symptoms came back with a vengenace. My rhuemy had always been skeptical about the minocycline theraphy theory, but now believes it may indeed have some merit. The best thing I find about being on a low dose antibotic is that it keeps to keep me realativly healthy.
