OMG I love a/c. I am always too warm. My hubby is always too cold. It's gods sense of humor. I am convinced.

Let's see now - I have to be careful - I LIVE with this problem. The problems name is Mamabluedogs2.
We keep our A/C on about 76 during the day with ceiling fans on. We both nap on the couch and I cover with a lap robe because, well, I dress DOWN in the summer - OK - Now, please, this NOT a Kodiak moment - just gym shorts (tee hee) so there is lots of leg and chest out in the air. Have we settled down now. OK - at nite, when bed time roles around, the A/C goes to 69/70 and we get under a comforter and I have a electric blanket - bed is preheated and when I "clap" out the lights, I set my side at 2 (down from pre-heat Broil) - MBDs2 turns hers off from pre-heat - about 2:30 my side gets crowded and that's ok with me. I get up between 5:30 and 6 - put the A/C back on 75 and make coffee. She gets up when she feels like it says - JEZZ Honey, it's cold in here, BUT we both agree we sleep better when it's cooler - so far no aches and pains for either of us (unless the coffee is not JUST RIGHT)

We have fun at everything.

My point - maybe an electric blanket with dual controls would be good

I love having it cold at night....but I too am under heated blanket. During the day I'm under a lap quilt if I'm sitting...and usually with my heating pad. We don't change the a/c much at all.

I'm still laughing at "when I clap out the lights" -- sorry Bluedogs2, but that's the funniest thing I've heard all day! Still, I've always wanted one for myself.... : )

I have to have it arctic cold at night or I'm miserable. GREAT idea about the electric blanket, for my poor husband, huddling under the blankets while I lay there with the floor fan blasted right at me, at the same time the A/C is cranked in the 60s, lol.

Geez you guys electric bills must be sky high. I keep my A/ C on
79 in day, 78 at night. If I put it any lower, it will never go off in this 100% Texas, heat.

Dreamchaser, I'm a fellow Texan. We are on the "balanced plan" for our electricity. But yes, our bill is high anyway. I'd smother in 78/79, and you'd probably freeze to death at night in my house! My mom wears double warmups here when she visits, lol.

We had a 2 year stretch with NO a/c way back in the early 2000's because we could not afford to fix our broken one - maybe that's why I blast it now, lol

Mamabluedogs2 is to you as Papa Angelpuss is to me. He turns his side off. and I mean to but often don't quite get there so he gravitates to my side. But he always gets up first and I get up when I feel like it.

My point - an electric blanket with dual controls is good. I cannot stand being cold.

I cannot have the AC on for too long nor too cold. I start to feel the cold throughout my bones and then I start to hurt. When I go for my IV Rituxan as I did today, I bring my own blanket because the AC is so high. Even with that I am still cold and needed another blanket. At night I usually wake up chilly if I fall asleep with the AC on. I then turn it off and back to sleep. I need to learn how to set it that would help.

What's "air conditioning"?

It's an open window at my house. Don't the A/C and the electric blanket just cancel each other out while upping the utilities something fierce?

I agree with you on that one altoclef, but what do you so in a household when one is too hot and the other is too cold. Here on the east coast it has been stifling without some ac. I have had to use my inhalers more in the last two weeks with the humidity than I have had to in the past year. That's a tough call when two folks have to be comfortable.

It does pain if A/C is on for long hours, so we can go for controlling the temperature via automatic mode.Last year I switched to air conditioning port st lucie and am really satisfied with the results.

i adore fans. and just a mere 2 weeks ago i took the heating blankets off the beds.

i really think it takes to June for me to defrost from the east coast winters.

but if you take all the provinciality out of these preferences, where we live, expendable income for ambient temps, yadda yadda, i just can not breath with it. it is as bad as my being around smokers or smoke. the hospital AC exacerbates for the summer time pneumonias and i can not wait to get home.

I do have a house that is all windows which is nice and I am a fan o holic.
