I can't wait for summer but I have problems with the sun for the pass 2 years. Was wondering if anyone else has this problem. 15 mins in sun I start turning beet red and almost go crazy with from itching so bad. Doctor just says stay out of sun and put on sun block. Wondering if meds causing it, Methotrexate, Folic Acid and Celebrex and of course Lexapro for my nerves..

I feel like an idiot. I completely forgot about mtx and the sun. I was in direct sun for about an hour. Thank goodness for aloe with lidocaine!

I have always been a sun worshiper. tanned for hours as a teenager, LOVE the beach....I am glad I found this post, but hate the thought of no more beach!!!!!!!!

I can't stand the heat, so covering up with long sleeves won't work. I feel like this is slowly stealing my life away.

In Australia, we are so aware of Melanoma, Skin Cancers, Solariums and the dangers of sun-baking that 30+ sunscreen, wearing hats in the sun and covering up have become a way of lifeYou can get sunburnt, even on overcast days.
MTX comes with a strong warning about not being out in the sun or if you have to, covering up and using 30+ sunscreen.

I love summer too. I live in New Zealand and we have just had 'summer' (speech marks because it was definitely not a summer!). And now it's winter, which is just a colder version of summer (lol I realize how stupid that sounds!)

I was on Plaquenil last summer and I noticed I had to use lots of sunscreen or the sun caused a red, itchy rash. Hmmmmmmm. I just started taking MTX. Thanks so much for the heads up about the sun. I had no idea!
