Hi - nice to find this group! I was diagnosed with RA last week after some blood work confirmed the symptoms. Getting my head around it all, started on MTX and plaquinel this week. Also was going down the path with a naturopath who swears it is all due to food insensitivities so has me on a diet that took away all my favourite things. Figure that can't hurt, so I'm hoping to get this under control - one way or another.

Welcome. Recently diagnosed myself. I feel like a sponge trying to learn all I can. But, as I am learning everyone's symptoms, flares, and treatment are a bit different. I'm adapting to the concept "everything in moderation". Hope that your medication helps you lead a "new normal" life!

hi, welcome to this site. There are a lot of great people here. I am an RN who was diag 22 years ago after 2-3 yrs of pain, fatigue and wqierd symptoms.I am sero neg so some GPs think I can't have RA. It has impacted my life greatly. I am still working, but almoxt every day I wonder how long I am going to be able to continue. Being new to the dx, the best advise I can give you is to explore all possibilities, what works for one may not work for others. Also, realize that you will got hrough a grief process because you are losing some things that you are used to. Also,ASK FOR HELP. This is one I am still trying to learn. I was stuck with RA for 9 years and went through most of the meds. I'm in remission now but I know that can change at any moment.

I'm new too! So far have found this group to be a wealth of info and alot kind people willing to help however they can. Best of luck to you on your search for meds that keep it under control, stay positive and remember you're not alone--there's a lot of us here for you!

thanks to all of you for the warm welcome! I'm feeling better this week, which is fabulous. Thought I had strep throat last week, but it went away over the weekend. I'm not sure if it's the drugs (seems to early - only had 1 shot of methotrexate and 1 full week of plaquinel), regular ebbs and flows of the inflamation, or the diet (or lack thereof - I've given up all gluten/dairy/sugar/processed foods / alcohol and all night shade veggies - nice side benefit is I've lost my last 7 pounds of baby weight!) - but don't really care, I'll take a good day anyday. But I'm still walking pretty slowly and typing away at the computer without using some of the swollen joints.
