Discussion, question-and-answer, general social support, and journal processing for progress-oriented rape survivors. I'm making small gains toward plans for this next year. I have a HUGE opportunity for those who might want to attend; I've been in contacts with a musician's manager to possibly have a special guest spend the weekend with us.
I won't say who it is yet, but it's one of the musicians included in the "Music for Hawks" thread, and a very special mentor to me. And a Grammy winner, too.
This will cost BIG bucks, but I'm willing to pay, even out of pocket if necessary, for this chance. So please continue to give serious consideration about whether you would attend next Spring (April, maybe?), and suggest what you'd like to get from this retreat.

I could have this in May, but the campground with the retreat center requires 40 registrants in order to honor their campsite rental price. I would have to have 40 *paid* registrants by the end of February, because I would pay the deposit out of my own pocket.
There is another option, but I don't like it as much. There is a church in OKC that will let us use their meeting area. It includes a kitchen, a gym-sized carpeted building, etc. It would not require the 40 registrants, and we could hold the retreat no matter what, even if only 20 people attended. The downside is this: it's not in the wilderness, and thus I'm not sure it would be possible to offer the cleansing ceremony. But it's also 10 minutes from the airport, as opposed to 70 miles. Since it's not a retreat center, participants would need to stay in local hotels. So there are some downsides, but there is also no gamble: we COULD do this retreat, no matter what. We would still have our other activities and musician/group leader.
How many of you would still prefer the wooded retreat, complete with Native ceremony, even if it means traveling from the airport to Stillwater, OK (but having amenities when you arrive)? If so, I would be willing to begin collecting registrations, and if we can get to 40 it's great, and if not nobody will lose a cent.
People could even coordinate arrivals and rent a car together, as opposed to each person having to rent one themselves.
