I'm making small gains toward plans for this next year. I have a HUGE opportunity for those who might want to attend; I've been in contacts with a musician's manager to possibly have a special guest spend the weekend with us.
I won't say who it is yet, but it's one of the musicians included in the "Music for Hawks" thread, and a very special mentor to me. And a Grammy winner, too.
This will cost BIG bucks, but I'm willing to pay, even out of pocket if necessary, for this chance. So please continue to give serious consideration about whether you would attend next Spring (April, maybe?), and suggest what you'd like to get from this retreat.

And, did you have dates in mind for the retreat? My boyfriend already booked a trip for us w/out telling me. I think it's April 13 through April 20. So maybe the retreat could be April 25 & 26? Please, please!
What weekend dates would be best for people who actually intend to come?
Can you think of activities you'd like to include in the agenda?
April is sexual assault awareness month, which may be good timing, but we could consider weekends after that too.
As for activities on the agenda, I have no idea...and that is no help, but, I really want to come, even if my husband isn't inclined to come with me, I have a suspicion that my sister may be willing to join me for the long drive over. My husband isn't opposed to me coming, but he has TV-drama ideas about internet friendships, and he is fearful for me to travel that far by myself, but he'd let me come if someone joined me.
I actually was just thinking about this the other day..glad you brought it back up.

I am working on grant funding, but this will be an expensive event. I expect to have to invest out-of-pocket. I'm willing to do that, but I need to know who can commit that you will be there, just because I am anticipating a lot of personal expense to organize this. Please let me know if you can come!

SO- LET'S DO THIS THING! In my life, there has never been such a group of beloved souls whom I would dearly love to meet, sit down with, rejoice with...I most certainly will come, just need an itinerary so I can do what I need to from this end...like take off from work..:)
Geepers, this is exciting! Plus, if I know now when it's to be....I can finally force myself to lose those extra pounds...nothing like a little trip to meet friends to make you want to lose weight...LOL
In looking for travel arrangements and knowing my work schedule....I wouldn't be able to leave until Friday at 7 Denver time. Puts me in OKC around midnight. I would gladly share a room with you Leithia...but I'd had to wake you at that time of night. Would probably need to stay in that hotel for the first night so as not to awaken the entire camp as well. Also needing to head back on Sunday, although that flight does not leave until 7:30. Of course, I was using fictious dates (the first full weekend in April) just for informational purposes while searching.
Leithia...check out Orbitz if you can. On Orbitz (before I knew that we had accommodations in the dorms) the round-trip from Denver and hotel accommodations together were around $330. I'm thinking that it will be much cheaper with less accommodations as well. There are also other budget-type travel sites that I haven't checked out yet....Travelocity comes to mind as well.
I will be setting up my travel fund on Monday morning. Very very excited. I haven't taken a trip for myself with myself since my Mother was deathly ill....I suppose that one wasn't actually for me either. Come to think of it....this will actually be the first trip that I have ever taken just for me! ; ) What an awesome thought! Not that I don't love my family to pieces...but with two teens in the house, and two businesses to run...a bit of me time is just what the doctor...uh, counselor...ordered. Well...I'm guessing that you would possibly recommend such a treatment Matt. ; )
