My husband has metastises in both lungs and the brain. The lung mets showed up in 2009, and in the brain this past June. The end of June, they did Gamma Knife radiation on the brain tumors. As of six weeks ago, they'd shrunk by 40%. Another brain MRI will be done next Monday, and we'll know the results on Wednesday. We're praying for evenn more shrinkage. The neurosurgeon told us that the radiation continues to work for up to a year.
There are many wonderful chemo drugs for lung mets. My husband tried Sutent, but his body couldn't handle it. Never-the-less, the lung mets have changed very little since 1009.
Keep the faith, and know that the oncologist will be able to offer treatments that will help your husband.
Don't hesitate to contact me, if I can help you in any way.
Love from SC,
Ingrid

So happy that Don is back at home with you. I believe they will be able to do the Gamma Knife. After one month, Ray's shrunk by 50%. It keeps working for up to a year. Does Don only have one lung met? When Ray's were discovered, he had several in each lung...so was not a candidate for surgery. His have grown and multiplied, over the years, but very slowly. Praise God!
When is your appointment with the Gamma people? I'll be anxious to hear what they have to say.
Hang in there, Hon!
Love, Ingrid
They first said one then they said two so I'm not sure. We have a consult on Monday with Gamma people, and meet with our Oncologist on Tues. I'm hoping he wont be mad we bypassed him and contacted the Gamma doctors before seeing him. It finally hit Don last night and he go depressed, I knew it would he had been handling it too well. So we went to our daughters and our other daughter and her family came over and the grandkids and he was laughing for a while.
