On Monday Nov 22 2010 @ 8:35 am my dad lost his battle with kidney cancer. He had admitted himself to hospital the monday before. His belly was swollen and very painful. They drained one litre of fluid off him and then another litre and a half. On Wed the 17th he had an appt @ the cancer place which they sent him by ambulance 2 hours away. We received great news... sutent was shrinking the main tumor in his kidney and the mets to the lungs were stable!! Then we were hit with the bad news, the cancer had spread to the tissues that seperate the bowels, intestines, ect. and new lesions on the liver. That was causing the fluid. They drained over 4 liters there and sent him back home hoping that the fluid would subside and he could start Afinitor. On Sat we spent the day with him and returned home 4 hrs away, he was uncomfortable and swollen again. they drained 5 litres sunday morning and when I called the hospital they told me I better get back there. I got back to the hospital at 5 sunday evening and was totally shocked by how bad he was. Sunday evening he was drained again 3 litres. His good kidney shut down sometime thru saturday night and he peacefully slipped away @ the age of 59. He faught very hard and ever so bravely. RIP DAD *CHEERS*
