Hmmm...I semi-confronted my rapist days after it happened and he is such a socio-path, he literally said, "Why are you treating my like a piece of meat? You used me..." Yeah. He seriously had that response. He told me I would be sorry and proceeded to send pictures of my naked unconcious self to my boyfriend. So. If I had the opportunity to confront him now, I would tell him how he stole from me. My dignity and happiness. And how happy I am that he can't even live here now because everyone knows what he did. Telling him that he doesn't have control anymore would be empowering. I wish I could confront mine. I would recommend taking a trusted friend along. Because years ago, I attempted to get a gun. I was going to kill him. And then kill myself. I'm so glad I didn't... but confronting him--I mean really actually doing it could bring up a hoard of unexpected emotions/rage.

Oh, and I really like the "I'm done keeping your secret..." This is something I'd like to memorize just in case I run into him or his accomplice again. That a great few lines!!!

I am not in a good place emotionally right now, so forgive me if I deal with this less appropriately than I should. I do not know the three people who rared me. But I learned their eyes. For years I have voided eye contact with strangers in crowds. I don't cower, or walk with my head down, just avert quickly. IF, I was to confront any of my attackers, I would hope to remain calm. I would say much of what I said to the 'iwasstupid' guy who posted on this site. I think rapists don't admit their wrongs when confronted because part of the power and control they have over their victims is their silence. But, should my three rapists be laid in front of me paralyzed and mute, this is what I would say. "It's me, you remember me? No, of course you don't. It was May 1970, hot day, old car, little girl in her yard....now you remember? No? Well, I'm the girl who had a life until you came along. I trusted you when you talked to me. I believed you when you said you wanted to be my friend. I was happy when you came to my door. But you didn't come to be my friend and what you did to my body was simply play to you. My screams were fuel to your sickness and you injured me. You tore my skin and you bruised and blackened my body, and you laughed at me! You laughed at me and I was no fight for you. I wanted a friend and you brought these people with you and you played with my body and you didn't care that I was so scared I wet on myself. You laughed and said mean and vile things to me. And when you left me, you shoved a hairbrush into my backside, said I was a waste of an afternoon, and you peed on me. Do you remember me now? Of course you do! I hope you have remembered me every day since that day. When you carried on with your life, when you fell in love. Did you have any children? Daughters? Did you think of me then? On her birthdays? 10,11, 12 years old? First two piece bathing suit? Did it come back to you that way? Or was it in your nightmares hearing my screams? I hope it did. I hope every day for you has been a reminder of what kind of human you are. How casually you took my spirit, played with it, and left it. You are a sick, sick, vile, disgusting clump of dog s*** on the sole of humanity's shoe, and you do not have the right to share this planet with me. You do not control anything in my life, and you are not worthy of my hatred. To hate you means I have to admit you exist, and to me, you do not. You are no more than vapor, and I control your presence with the simple turn of a knob. I switch the knob to 'off' and the vapor disappears. I contain you as a vapor in a vessel, and I bury that vessel and you are no more."

That is what I'd say, if I knew them, if they were paralyzed, and mute.

I have not actually confronted my rapist but I have highly considered it through the suggestion of a therapist. However, I have always been told that you should never do it alone. Find neutral ground somewhere where you feel safe and my therapist was going to go with me. I was just going to ask him to be silent while I spoke. I was going to say what I had to say and then walk away. :)

It's always good to meet in neutral territory and have someone supportive there with you.

Oh also my reasoning in neutral ground is because if he decides to he could use your confrontation against you. Technically your trespassing and harrassing. I work for an attorney and both of these could fly. Don't stoop to his level stay legal. :)
