Hi, not sure on the dizziness because sometimes that occurs as part of your recovery and can sometimes be anxiety driven. I would say blood in your nose isn't uncommon due to being on anticoagulants, but you should mention it to your doc (along with the dizziness) just so your doc is aware.

Ditto on what @rmb said. Also, yes, the anxiety is very, very common for someone who has survived PE. That isn't part of the medication at all. If you're OK with it, talk to your doc about treatment for that as well. Maybe meds for a little while, or talk therapy, or something else can take the edge off. The anxiety can really take you over if you let it, and it's better to spend that energy healing, than worrying.

I think having these symptoms is just making my anxiety worst !! I will get in touch with my doctor tomorrow and discuss my symptoms with him ! Thanks again

Yeah the anxiety kind of makes it hard to sort things out. It'll get easier after a while.

What they said. Nosebleeds are common with blood thinners, anxiety is common after PE.

You should be at that higher dose of the xeralto for 21 days, then transition to 20mg, once daily. Your nosebleeds might abate then.

Appreciate your comments and after reading them my anxiety subsided and calmed down ! Felt better today with no nosebleeds and not as dizzy ! So body must be accepting the med's? Thanks again

Make sure you are drinking enough water too. For some reason after my PE, I think from just not being in my regular routine, I struggled with dehydration. Dizziness can be related to that too.

I'm on warfarin which needs regular blood tests to make sure you're getting the right dose but I've found that a bit of blood in my nose has turned out to be a sign that I'm getting the right amount of my drug. A skin scratch that keeps bleeding after a minute or two is a sign that I'm getting too much of the drug.

Hi all
From Last thursday I have a painful knee all over and mostly at the back of it ! Pain has gone into top of calf also ? Saw my gp and he seems to think it's osteoarthritis !Which is likely from having had 2 operations on it from an old football injury ! ('8 years ago ) He's ruled out a dvt because he said that shouldn't happen whist on xarelto ! But a couple of hours ago now I've just brought a bit of blood up ? I've had no problems for a good 3 weeks now as I thought I was getting better since being diagnosed almost 6 weeks back ! Just worried now about bringing up a bit of blood ! Any help or advise would be appreciated thanks

If you are concerned, call your doc again (or his answering service) or go to the emergency. The blood is probably just from the xarelto, but if it's really worrisome, it's best to get checked out.

He should run a d-dimer to rule out DVT, not assume the meds are working. That's irresponsible on your doc's part.

Knee is feeling better and I've had no more signs of blood but if I have anymore I'll go back to my gp ! Regarding my knee he also said that I'm already on the treatment for treating a dvt ?

Sometimes a d dimer test isn't accurate while on anticoagulants.

I do think it's rare to form clots while on anticoagulants but it can happen.
