Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
You can take a mutli vitamin but most have vitamin k so if you start taking it just maybe check your INR a bit initially to see if it changes anything.
Personally, I've done away with a lot of vitamin and supplements and not because of warfarin. I think most people, unless they have a deficiency or an absorption problem, get proper vitamins through eating a balanced diet.
I do have a couple of things that I will take, however. I take magnesium daily for another medical issue. I also take Calcium and Vit D, just because I know warfarin can inhibit calcium absorption. I also take fish oil, on the recommendation of my doctor. I'll also throw some Vit C down there if I feel like I'm getting sick--never had that affect my INR.
If you're thinking about specific things, you can always check with a pharmacist to see about possible interactions. Even so, you should keep an eye on your INR after starting anything new, just to be safe.
I actually do have absorption problems because I have ulcerative colitis, but even so I just really think for the most part, I'm getting what I need. I take Emergen-C packets when I'm getting sick and I haven't noticed any real affect on my INR
