By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

What time of day ?

Just wondering what time of day most of you take Warfarin. In the hospital they gave it to me at 6pm everyday so I've been sticking to that, but it's hard to remember. The nurse told me I could take it 2 hours earlier each day till I reached the time that I wake in the morning.

Do most of you take it in the morning or before you go to bed?

Probably sounds like a silly question, but all of this is so new to me, and I'm trying to sort it all out.

I was told PM...so it would be in my system, when they did the INR.

I take mine at Dinner time. Taking it in the evening allows you to adjust your dosage the same day you get INR results.

I was told 7pm everyday. So they could adjust my meds before I take my daily dose of coumedin. Good luck!!!

Thank you for the kind words Civilized. And thanks to each of you for the responses. I am so grateful to have stumbled upon this support group. Guess my 6 pm dose of Warfarin will become a part of my life for at least 6 months. This is all so new.

I take mine in the evening too, usually somewhere between 7 and 9. Wish it was at a more precise time every day, but my life is not precise.

I went through this with the people at the AC clinic. If feasible, evenings are preferred so that you can get a next dose adjusted after a daytime appointment. The job I work often involves staying late, or going out on all-nighters, and rotations on the 24 hour pager. With 60+ disruptions per year in the evenings, and fewer than 10 in the mornings, I justified taking it in the mornings when the urgent distractions are far fewer. In 2+ years I have missed a total of 2 scheduled doses.

I take mine around 10 pm. I guess for me it is it just part of my nightly rountine.

I am a 6:00 pm person as well. I set my cell phone alarm so even if I'm not at home, I still can remember.

Good Day....

When I left the hospital, I was taking it in the evenings around dinner time, but I had too many times where I could not remember if I took it or not, (guess memory loss is a side effect so they say).

Anyway, I switched to mornings and have had no problems. INR has been stable and I find it easier to rememeber.

    We all have 24 hours in a day.  How we spend these hours is important.  Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do.  Gonna have to work on that.Your turn.  Tell me another truth.
