By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

Warfarin and PT still too low?

Hi! I'm new on here so here is a little back story. I landed in the ER in February after thinking I had just oulled a muscle in my shoulder then not being able to catch my breath. Saw my primary Dr that day amd he sent me straight to hospital from hos office thinking I was having a heart attack. Anywho, found out I had a PE in my lower left lobe. I was released and put in warfarin 4mg at first. My PT has been coming back at 1.2 to 1.9 so they have increased it slowly to 7mg. My PT is still running 1.2. I'm so terrified of having another PE that I went and had my will drawn up. I have so much anxiety and constantly worry about it. But is anyone else having an issue with getting their blood levels normal? I follow all the orders of what I can and can't do and not eat perfectly and still no change. Please help!

Also, I have never been referred to a pulmonary specialist or a hematologist.

Well you should have a will whether or not you ever had a clot so that's good. :) It can take a while to get the dose right. 1.9 is actually pretty good, just a smidge outside the target range. For many people the worst part is the anxiety, counseling might help a lot. Also take a look in google at what foods have vitamin K, there are some non-green ones like cauliflower that might be messing you up. It takes a while for a dose change to even out in your body, it's not unusual to take a while to sort it out.

For some people, it can take several months to get the dosage fine-tuned so your INR stabilized within range. For me, it was a big struggle.

I would suggest with diet is to just eat like you always eat but be consistent. If you keep tweaking your diet, it actually doesn’t help.

    We all have 24 hours in a day.  How we spend these hours is important.  Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do.  Gonna have to work on that.Your turn.  Tell me another truth.
