I actually use an oral decongestant- Sudafed PE. Initially my doc said no, but that was right after my PE and my heart was kind of messed up so I think that's what he was concerned with. But now, I take them when I need to, especially right now with allergies. I haven't seen an impact to my INR. Of course, everyone is different.

I don't know about the nasal sprays, but I'd assume that they'd be safe.

My Dr said to use Mucinex DM and nothing else. It worked, along with a Z pack when I last had acute bronchitis. Now, I just use the Mucinex on a daily basis (morning) and that seems to work too. I sneeze in the morning, have a runny nose and then it's over - I can live with that.

I'm on Astropro (spelling?) Not an over the counter one..It was cleared by the Coumandin gods.

I had a few minor colds over the winter and researched this before taking anything. Based on what I read, I went with the Phenylephrine as Mark mentioned. I didn't have any problems and its a pretty good decongestant. You can buy them in caplets/pills and they are pretty inexpensive. They look just like Sudafed, but the active ingredient is a little different.

When in doubt, call the pharmacist! Many are open 24-hours and they have huge databases to discuss drug interactions! I call mine all the time if I'm trying to figure out if I can take something new. They're lovely!

I just asked my PA just yesterday if I could take Sudafed and she said yes, there is no concern as long as you don't have blood pressure issues.
