Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
Hi Everyone
I'm Relle from NYC
Jan 23 2017
I woke up feeling tired and had some tightness in my chest. I'm 7 months into a new job and just wanted to try to get to work. By the time I made it I was in tears and had so much pain in my chest. After getting to the hospital they diagnosed me with blood clots. After further tests they told me I had several clots in both lungs. I was in the hospital for a week. Out of work for two weeks. I felt a little better and tried to go back to work. Not the best idea after one week back I had to stay home again.
I know I'm only one month into this recovery but it's very scary. I still get pains in my chest and leg. I try to stay calm and it does subside. I'm on warfarin and the side effects haven't been pleasant.
I was just reading some stories and it's so comforting knowing that I'm not alone and not going nuts. My family is trying to be supportive but they don't t understand. Going from being fine to this is a lot.
if anyone can share any tips on recovery it would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
Unfortunately I too have suffered from DVT and PE's.
Trust in the treatment however I am sorry about the idea effects. I'm on Xarelto and luckily my body has done well with it.
Patience and mental strength will be huge in your recovery.
Try to walk and get into a good cardio regiment as well as a decent diet.
God bless you and we'll be paying close attention to your recovery.

I'm adjusting my diet and definitely want to start some exercise routine
I'm glad the medicine you're on helps and works well!
Thanks Again!!
For me, going back to work really wore me out. So it's hard to feel like you're making progress or feeling better. I would just expect that you're going to have some good days and not so good days for a while. It could take a month nor two to start feeling like you're getting your energy and stamina back on track. It'll will get easier. Hang in there.
Yes I'm changing my diet to become healthier.
Dizziness and headaches are what I've been dealing with.
I'm taking some more time off from work to recover. Hopefully that will help.
Thank you rmb
Thanks TGrove
I'm definitely learning to be more patient with my body. And my family.
Relax and recover is what we need
That's what I'm going to do
My biggest tip is to just REST. Listen to your body. I was sleeping up to 14 hours a day for three weeks, and I only had two small clots in my lungs! Don't push yourself because you can end up feeling worse and take longer to recover. Go to work part time if you can, slowly working up to full time. Make sure your work understands that while you look okay on the outside, your body is working on repair on the inside and it can take quite a long time to get back to feeling somewhat normal.
Hang in there, and best of luck to you!
