Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

Are you still feeling anxious and what not or is that subsiding?
I don’t want to dismiss your pain when you are off warfarin but do you see a connection with you anxiety increasing when you are off warfarin? I just wonder if you may be getting stressed and tense causing some of that discomfort. Warfarin prevents new clots; it doesn’t dissolve existing clots. I have to agree it can take a while for existing clots to resolve. Does a heating pad or ice help with the pain? I’m sorry you are struggling.
I guess I’m just curious the connection between stopping warfarin and the pain. Warfarin isn’t a pain reliever and not taking or taking it has no bearing on your existing clot. It seems even though your clot is still present it’s not going anywhere. It’s not getting bigger is it? Is it getting smaller? A couple of years after my PE/DVT, I still showed a chronic clot in my calf. It was the scaring and where the clot has adhered to my vein. I was on warfarin too. Stuff just sometimes takes a while to resolve. Did your doctors give you recommendations on the pain?
