At the moment I'm not well enough to go anywhere but I'm hoping to get a few days in on the south coast of England - its called Jurassic coast and is beautiful x

We have a few day and weekend trips planned, but we're sticking close to home in Wisconsin this summer. We are seeing Slash in Madison WI next month so we'll be in Madison for a couple of nights. We may go up to my brother's cabin in Northern WI for a weekend in the middle of summer. We will be going to LaCrosse WI in September for couple of nights for my husband's birthday (he's an alum of UW LaCrosse so he calls that going back to the Mother Land... whatever).

I may be taking the kids to Chicago on the train for a day trip. That's always a fun time. We did that a couple of years ago and really enjoyed that. I taught them how to assertively hail a cab and not let someone try to muscle their way into your cab. That way when they're ready to travel on their own, they've got that one down.

Not much going on this year out of the ordinary.

My husband's Dad's family rents a beach house on the North Carolina Coast at Ocean Isle (hi Cindy!) every year. We're usually there for a week. I adore the ocean, but the in-laws are getting a little wearing. :-)

Hopefully, we'll get some other day trips and weekend trips in too. Lots of places to go around Colorado. We're usually up in Estes Park multiple times a year because my mother-in-law lives there and they have a fabulous guest room

Also, maybe a trip to St. Louis to see my BFF. Haven't even met her second child yet and she just turned two!

Felt on a bit of a downer when I first saw this thread as we had to cancel our dream holiday which we'd booked for this summer...
10 nights in the Maldives and 3 nights in Dubai on the way back...
Never mind, we WILL get there eventually, just not this year...

I'd usually spend a month in Spain over summer, but that's out too while I'm not allowed to fly, so instead we'll be having a few nights here and there camping, all timed nicely around the full blood screening and the tooth extraction (waiting for the end of the warfarin) which should be at the start of August.
It's made things awkward but we won't be beaten by it!!
The British countryside is beautiful and we aim to see a bit more of it this year!!
After all a holiday is about the people you spend it with not just the location, and I'm well ready for a break, lol

Instead of our usual winter trip to Oaxaca Mexico this year, my vacation time-off was used to go to the Mayo Clinic. Well worth the trade-off, though. Now, at 222 days out (DVT & PE), most of which were frustrating, frightening and pain-filled, I'm feeling pretty great, and plan to just relish Michigan. (The time to get away from *this* state is January through March; summers, on the other hand, are pretty great here). We'll spend some time at Lake Michigan and Torch Lake (up by Traverse City, MI - an amazingly beautiful site). And walking. Lots of walking.

Aw csteeps, u can look forward to that one, it will be fabby! We had to cancel our october week last year and then we had hoped to go somewhere nice for a weekend break for our anniversary in november but we never got away because of me being so I'll. It's rotten how things get put on hold but at least there's stuff to look forward to and maybe having that will help keep ur spirits up while u r getting over this.
