Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

Still having stomach problems. Desperate!

I had a PE just over a month ago and was diagnosed with multiple PEs. It seemed to come from a DVT in the calf as I had torn a calf muscle and then developed a lot of deep leg pain. So far, so good...but since then I have had terrible stomach problems. I have a problem swallowing food (it tends to come back up as I'm chewing), stomach cramps, major hunger pains, pain in windpipe. I did have alot of acid reflux but they put me on a proton pump inhibitor and it seems to have started working. However, I still feel sick most of the time, weak, hungry and unable to eat many solids. I have been checked out by docs and all vital signs and bloods are normal. Has anyone else had any problems like this?? I am extremely desperate and worried. I have been bedridden today with no energy and shaking. Is there anyone who has had similar symptoms?

My problems with Warfarin started with an upset stomach after I ate and then sort of a spastic colon reaction (nice way of saying -- diarhea). I never knew when it would happen. It started the 2nd day in the hospital.

The first week home, after I took my Warfarin at dinner, I would get heartburn. Then, it got to the point of not being able to swallow and gagging.

Since Sept, I have been on generic Prilosec OTC. I take it each morning. It has worked for me. It took a week for it to take effect. Occassionally, I get the gagging reflex.

If what your Dr gave you doesn't work, I would suggest asking for something else.

Thanks, Lizabee. I was taken off Warfarin and put on Synthome just in case it was the medication...but to no avail. I am still having terrible stomach problems to the point of not being able to function properly. My docs cannot understand it. The first sign I had was gagging in the morning I had my first PE and the problems have got progressively worse since then. My doc says he's not sure what to do as all the bloods and vital signs are normal and my symptoms are quite diverse...so what to look for? But I have been so desperate as to nearly check myself into hospital. I just need answers - after over a month now is this ever going to get better??

No, not yet. My GP is reluctant to refer me to a specialist as he says he's not sure who to refer me to as my symptoms are quite diverse...and my vital signs and bloods are normal. BUT, I am really fed up now and will be seeing him first thing tomorrow morning to request that I am referred. I am very worried.

The thing is that if you're having gut trouble there are other procedures to get to the bottom of it, like an endoscopy. That would tell you if you have gastritis, or something else, something that your vital signs and blood work wouldn't tell you. I'm not saying you needlessly have to have some kind of scope done, but I suspect a specialist would have more insight into some of your symptoms.

I agree. I think you should check into getting an endoscope to see if there is a problem such as celiacs disease. (or even sensitivity) There are many things that it can be. DId they say anything about a hiatal hernia? I would want to see a gastro dr for sure. Hope things get better for you real soon!

    We all have 24 hours in a day.  How we spend these hours is important.  Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do.  Gonna have to work on that.Your turn.  Tell me another truth.
