Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

Has anyone had this done? My daughter is also on blood thinners and one doctor told her that could be done. She went to a specialist and he said they couldn't be put in below the waist.
I never heard of the blood not pumping up from the leg like it is suppose to. He also told her the blood clot was there and like jello in the groin area and she has pain there and in her foot. He told her if she had came to him when this started he would have given her "clot busters." Never heard of that either unless he was meaning the shots.
She is going to another doctor. He also told her the hose was not tight enough on her foot but was on her leg. She has foot pain and the doctor said it was probably the blood pooling in her foot.
I just never heard of this myself and I have been on blood thinners for 17 years. I have had 3 blood clots not being on blood thinners but none since I started them.
The support hose cut off circulation sometimes. I told her to just keep adjusting them around the ankle.

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
It seems plausible to me that her blood is not pumping correctly if she still has the clot present or if she has damage from the DVT.
Clot busters are a medium to break up the clots. So that's different from the injections. Clot busters need to be administered very soon after diagnosis to be effective. It's something they sometimes administer if the clot is severe.
Stockings are sometimes not comfortable and cause pain. I think it makes sense what the doctor is telling her about the stockings. Half the battle with compression stockings is getting a correct fit and putting them on correctly. A medical supply store may be able to help her with that.
If the doctor feels that blood flow through the very large vessels that pass through the groin area is compromised, they can stent those. They aren't IN the legs, they feed blood to and from the legs. I have friends with diabetes who have had them in the aorta or very near the bifurcation of the femoral arteries or in the large upper reaches of the femoral veins in the pelvis/abdomen area. This would be something that could be done if they felt a recurrence was highly probable or if they just felt that circulation to the legs was so poor that it needed to be improved (which was the case with my diabetic friends).
