Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
My PEs were caused by hormonal contraceptives (with no genetic factors or other risks), but my hematologist wants to keep me on baby aspirin forever. The anxiety of potential bleeding got to me before I was on baby aspirin, but I hardly think about it anymore. I think I'd feel really anxious about going off of anticoagulants entirely, too.
Hope you're doing well.
Thanks, it really helps. How long have you been just on baby asprin? And your doctor felt that was sufficient?
I've been on baby aspirin for a little under two years now. And yes, my doctor felt that was sufficient. My labs look normal at each visit (every 6 months), and I feel at peace with it.
