Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
shortness of breath, pollen and new PE fears...

Hello friends,
It has been a very long time since I last posted here. I had a bilateral, massive PE in August of 2010, and have recovered very well since after a year on anticoags and lots of efforts to regain fitness. I find myself distressed and remembering the trauma of my near-fatal PEs this week because I've been experiencing sudden bouts of feeling slightly out of breath, very tired, and have pain and tightness in my chest wall. I get the feeling it may have to do with the abundant pollen floating around and think my lungs may be irritated, but there's a part of me that's scared that I might have another PE, even if my SOB is mild compared to what I felt in 2010. A couple of months ago, I fell off my bike and had a minor fracture in my elbow. It's pretty much healed, but last week I took two flights (less than 3 hours each, to spain) and I can't help worrying that maybe being on a flight without anticoags may have caused new clots. Not sure what to do...the shortness of breath is pretty minor, I can breath in a full lungful of air with no problem, and I think a lot of it might be psychosomatic/the pain and tightness might be partially due to anxiety. Any words of wisdom? Thanks so much...be well, and I hope you are all recovering well.

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
Go get checked out, if just for the peace of mind. Mention you have a history of blood clots, that you've been on a plane recently, and that you've got some SOB ... they'll probably get you in pretty quickly!
Keep us posted!
I'm glad you were able to sort it out and that you feel better
I do that kind of mini-panic attack every few months. Minor twinge and I'll wind up on edge for a couple days.
Glad you are doing better.
