By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

SAHM after PE

I have two little ones (2 & 3 - they're 15 months apart) and sometimes I just find it so hard! My husband is a firefighter and works 24 hour shifts, so when I'm having bad days and he's at work, it's just so hard!


Anyone have any advice on how to deal? My inlaws live close by, but I'm not the type of person to ask for help unless I really need it (like having to go to the hospital).

Ask them to help you if you need help. It's ok to be the kind of person to ask for help after a critical health event.

Thanks.. I've been getting some help here and there and it is helping! I just find it hard to ask unless it's really needed!

Good! I totally understand it being hard to ask. I rarely ask for help, out of pride, to not be perceived as being needy, to not feel weak, to not feel like I'm giving up control. But I know too those are just my issues, not actual fact. Asking for help is being kind to yourself, that's all.

are you part of a religious group? Sometimes it's easier to ask non-family members than family. If you leaked your need for help to a close neighbor or someone at church/synagogue, then maybe people will offer to watch your kids so you can take a nap, or make some meals for you. In the meantime, buy dinners that cook quickly. I have the luxury of napping in the afternoon (retired) but sometimes I go down late and awaken at almost 6 pm. I can go into the freezer and buy a boxed meal, throw in a salad and a roll and my husband thinks I'm a miracle worker. :-) My niece's husband works for the FDNY and I know that a lot falls on her. She has two boys less than 2 years apart, 4 and 5 and they are wild men. To add clots to the mix -- I can't imagine

Yes rmb, those are all my reasons (and my issues) too. I'm trying to get better though!

Thanks Soola for your response. I'm not a part of a religious group, but have family close by and some mom-group friends that have supported me. It's just so tough sometimes when the husband is at work! I'm sure your niece definitely ha her hands full!!

    We all have 24 hours in a day.  How we spend these hours is important.  Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do.  Gonna have to work on that.Your turn.  Tell me another truth.
