By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

"Graduated" to monthly INR controls

While I'm sooo happy I no longer have to go for weekly controls (I'm sure my arms are thankful too LOL), I am a bit concerned as my INR has been fluctuating a bit in the past 2 months: from way down to 1.5 to 2.7. I am soooo scared of clotting again!

Would I know if it gets too low? Are there symptoms other than the clotting episodes? I know what to look for if it gets too high, but they don't tell you what to look for if it gets too low.

I'm so annoyed with myself: never used to be a worry wart before!

I can never just tell if my INR is too low or too high until I test. The best thing you can do is just keeping doing whatever it is your doing with diet and stuff, which is to stay consistent.

I have been testing monthly for a few years now, and more recently if my INR is up or down, but then we go back to monthly once it stabilizes again. You start getting more confident with it as time goes on.

Thanks, rmb, being confident that it's ok is something I have a hard time with. Don't know why: except for those 2 weeks where it was too low, it's been right within therapeutic range since September.

Sigh, like I said, never used to worry needlessly before. Now, I worry about every little symptom. I guess that comes from being betrayed by your body :(

Yeah I get it. It's hard to just sort of trust, in anything again. But you know, sometimes worry and anxiety are just bad habits. I know when I started realizing how much of the stuff I worried about happening never happened, I just thought, what am I doing.

You'll be ok.

Thanks rmb. Somewhere, deep down, I KNOW I will be ok. But I just get these little bouts of panicky feelings every now and then, and I worry, worry. Then it passes.

For the most part, I am a very positive woman: glass is always half full :)

That's how I am too. I had to sort of practice not worrying. It will get easier with time. It really will. Hang in there, lady!!

    We all have 24 hours in a day.  How we spend these hours is important.  Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do.  Gonna have to work on that.Your turn.  Tell me another truth.
