We did it the day after PE and I was fine. I only had 3 small clots and once I was on clexane my breathing was fine so it never occurred to me not to. I think a little intimacy and related endorphins is probably good for healing. Just listen to your body and take it easy! :-)

A week after I got home from the hospital. My biggest issue wasn't the PE, but the pain in my DVT leg made it difficult.

As far as the PE, I had some chest discomfort but it was fine. If your doc gave you the ok to exercise, I assume sex is fine, although I never asked.

I agree with worrybee, the intimacy is important and activity is good for you. If you were having sex before the PE then get back in that saddle so to speak because it's important to return to normal activities, even if it's sex.

Actually, I have no idea on this one.

We had the added wrinkle that my IUD had come out earlier the same day my PEs were diagnosed, so I had no birth control and no immediate way to do anything about it (and no energy to do anything about it). The hubby has occasional painful reactions to condoms as well, so I have no idea how long it was until we worked up a "plan" (so to speak) and went for it.

But no, not a question I ever posed to the doc ... just something we figured out as we went along.

Right, because you know when I think about it, the sex we tried initially was more an attempt vs a success. We had to use condoms and that was annoying so there was a lot of fumbling and frustration. Plus I had to figure out what to do with my bum leg. It was kind of funny. But the intimacy was always there. I think my spouse was just happy that I showed some interest, honestly. The day I got home after being in the hospital for 7 days, he crawled in bed with me and tried to make a move, and I was like, are you kidding me??? But I get it. He was just reaching out to the person he almost lost. Men... they are as god made them, ha ha!

I didnt have 'relations' as you put it for a good 6 weeks post the PE...however I think I could have done it earlier but my BF had other ideas as he was extremely worried (this is the guy who wouldnt kiss me properly in the first week in case my heart rate went up!!) He was quite adamant that while I was getting breathless and having chest pains he wasnt coming near me even though he wanted to. He reacted to the whole PE event with far more worry than me though.

TBH initially it was the last thing on both of our minds and like others have said adjusting to condoms was a bit of a turn off but I think if you feel ready then go for it :) It never occurred to me to ask a Dr I have to say, as I was always told to listen to my body and do exercise and normal life as much as I felt able I just figured it fell into that category :)

We have kind of fooled around a little so hubby hasn't been totally "without" since I have been home.

Thankfully due to having my tubes tied years ago plus age, we don't have to worry about condoms,etc. So that is one thing in our favor.

I had a problem about 2 months prior to the PE that kind of stopped things for about 6 weeks. So poor hubby has not had the
best late spring or summer.

From the male perspective here....we still have not because I have not returned to pre PE DVT uhhhhhhh.....how shall I say it.......pre PE heights. LoL

I was assuming this due to the Xarelto. May check with primary care Dr upon next visit.
