Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

My PE was diagonosed back on jan 8th in hospital for a week in hospital was on coumadin and lovanox (i know i told this story before sorry) but when i was discharged the doc and hema decided they wanted me on lovanox only because of preganancy risk and other reasons so i have been giving myself the shots dr and hema wanted me on for 6 months because of the fact they really didnt know what caused my clot i had some really big risk factors but they were not sure if they were the cause still puzzled about that but anyhow. Went to my follow up with my hema april 28 she said she was ok with me coming off of lovanox after being on for 4 months 120mg twice daily. Im scared because i Was supposed to be on for 6 months but my hema said we have removed all possible causes for the PE so i will have a blood test and ct done in three weeks from the 28th to see if everything is still ok and if so i should be ok. She put me on a baby asprin just to give me a lil protection so to speak and just to ease my anxiety about not being on anything.
My question is all this time i have been on the lovanox my chest pain has not been that bad. Some SOB but nothing that bad. After i came of the lovanox a week later i have horrible chest pain and it wont go away. Went to er had a ct w/contrast and d-dimer done and all the er doc said was all your test came back good no clot. If no clot then what is it?
I am in therapy now and i thought my anxiety was under controll but it seems since the chest pain is back and they didnt find another clot my anxiety came back with a vengence.
My question is, is the horrible chest pain after no pain for a few months normal? Has anyone ever experianced this? Im nervous and scared and it will not go away. I go see my doc in a few days but im in full anxiety now..
Thanks special c.

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
That is exactly what it feels like, like im gonna have an heart attack, Or i have another PE.
I have been focused on it trying to figure it out like what is it why is it there. (sighs again)
Man oh man this is just crazyness ii thoughti was doing so much better. I go to see my theripist tomorrow i will bring this up. I also just looked up that the baby asprin im on could cause chest pain i will call me hema in the morning to ask about this just to cover all areas...
Thank you rmb.
For example, I twisted weird sitting down in a spin-y chair at work and wrenched my leg. I knew it was going to be sore for a couple of days, but my brain still went into "What if its a clot!" mode for a few days. At this point, my best defense is to acknowledge it and then just go on with life. I usually warn my husband that I'm feeling anxious too, just so he knows what's going on.
And, yeah, the anxiety can take the form of chest pain, SOB, and all the other symptoms that we tend to associate with PEs. It really does take time and practice to sort it all out. In your case, you have been checked out, so it isn't a clot. You do have to look in other directions.
Also, definitely think about other environmental triggers. I went to my doc with SOB and some mild chest pain at one point. The SOB had been around for about two weeks and I was totally convinced that I had another clot. But, we tracked it back and figured out that the SOB had started the day that we had the carpets in my house cleaned. The fumes had made my poor lungs freak out. We spent a few days vacuuming and airing out the house and my lungs were suddenly magically better.
So, yeah, if you've been around fumes, or it is suddenly getting hot or humid where you are, or you've got spring allergies, don't forget to factor those into what you may be feeling also.
Hang in there! You're in therapy, which can help so, so much. Now, cut yourself some slack for being worried (you're just trying to protect yourself) and think about how much you've learned since all this has started. It definitely takes a lot of baby steps before we start seeing big strides.
