Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
Hello all,
Two weeks ago I was diagnosised by my doctor to have a blood clot and and immediately sent to ER. After a CTA confirmed, I had an ultrasound to show it came from a DVT in my left leg. I never had any leg pain but the symptoms of severe right lower chest pain, SOB, feeling like I had the flu and fatigue with anxiety alerted me something was very wrong. At the beginning of December I started the nuvaring from my OB with the advice of my neurologist for my chronic migraines. I'm 43 years old, non-smoker and had tried MANY preventatives for my chronic migraines. I was leary of it since I am that person that gets all the adverse reactions (I am allerigc to Botox we tried for migraines-hives, difficulty swallowing and breathing with wheezing), but decided to try and see. No more ring for me!!!
My question is anyone else a vicitim of HRT or contraceptives? Also I am a RN that works part time. I am off work for now and my director is AWESOME. But any nurses that have had PEs and how long were you off work?
I am very thankful for finding this support group website, and reading your posts reassures me it will take time to recover.

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
Not sure if any nurses are here, but just generally, I think going back to work and when really is an individual thing. I can tell you there is a tremendous amount of fatigue when you go back so if you can go back starting on a limited schedule, try that.
I'm a teacher, so I'm on my feet a lot. I went to the hospital on a Wednesday and stayed overnight. I returned to work the following Monday but was exhausted.
