Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
There is no real speeding up the process but I would suggest that when your doctor gives you the ok to start being active, which shouldn’t be too long (ask him/her) try to start slowly going for walks, light activity etc. I personally think that helps.
You may experience some chest aches and wheezing or coughing. Pretty standard after a PE. Call your doctor if concerned and try to manage the anxiety. That anxiety is pretty common.
Try to remind yourself you are ok!
