By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
Ok, I don't want to jinx myself, but as the subject states, just need to get through the next few weeks.
My mother went to our hematologist this morning for a routine visit for her. With my permission, she asked him about my test results. Long story short, it appears that in all probability, I will be a lifer on warfarin. He just is reluctant to do it without the second tests performed next week. Well, actualyl, this will be my third set but he poopoos the first ones as they were in the hospital once on thinners. That said however, same tests came back positive then, but ok, whatever.
Don't get me wrong, I am not thrilled at having to be on meds for the rest of my life. However, I do believe that for me, it is the best thing. I also feel that once that decision is made, I can just finally move on already! Questions will have been answered, course of treatment decided and I can be done with it so to speak.
Knocking on wood that all will be well until then! :o)
