Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
Here's my backgroud info:
I've had two PEs and am on Coumadin. I never felt a DVT with either PE. I have a clotting disorder (prothrobin gene mutation).
My INR was 2.4 when I checked it 4 days ago.
Both times I clotted in the past, I was not on Coumadin.
What's up:
I have this pain in my right calf. It hurts a lot to walk.
My leg doesn't look swollen or red.
It feels a bit bumpy when I touch the sore spot.
Should I be concerned?

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
You should get it checked out....I did not have swelling, redness, any change in color when I had my DVT except for calf pain...even my doppler came back false negative....It wasn't until I kept complaining that my dr finally ordered an ultrasound....not to scare you, but I did not "meet" all criteria and suffered a PE because my leg looked normal....be safe..

had PE even on coumadin. Now I have two filters,one in each iliac vein. In the future you may want a filter if coumadin doesn't stop your
DVT. Most people just need one filter but my vena cava is too large.
It could be anything and most people don't clot while on warfarin, but just to be safe and for peace of mind, give your doc a call.
I think that I have self-diagnosed it as sciatica/piriformis syndrome.
Since my lower back and booty hurt too, I don't think it's DVT.
I have a history of pirifomis syndrome issues. It just has never radiated all the way down to my calf before.
I think I just freaked myself out a bit last night.
After having a PE, you feel like you can never be too careful.
I'm going to call my doc nonetheless. Hopefully she'll see me soon. I'll need a physical therapy referral for the sports injury, if that's all it is.
