Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

How long since you had your PE

If you are dealing with anxiety from having the PE, it could be caused by that.

Diagnosed 2 weeks ago but maybe had PE's a month. I've been stressed this week with a busy work week and trying to finish a class i'm taking, so may it is the anxiety. They told me anxiety is not good for it. The weather her is in the high 90's with "feels like temps" over 105, so thinking that's not helping. Thanks garayk and rmb for the feedback. Going to try and relax this weekend.

After a PE, sometimes you can get really hyper focused on your body, and also hyper vigilant about your body, where you notice every physical thing happening in your body. It's like everything is amplified. I found meditation helpful, like just a few minutes a day or whenever you feel physically unwell or anxious. It helps slow everything down a bit so you can try to get a sense of what may be causing what.

I've had the same feeling in my chest and I was diagnosed 2 weeks ago, I never know if I should call the doctor or if it's just my anxiety/stress from knowing I have pe

Here's an update on my situation...i ended up back in the hospital. Because i have the damaged lung my Dr. didn't want to take any chances. My lung has filled with fluid and i have developed reflux. I've never had even heartburn so would never have thought it. The dr. stated that it's more of a feeling like having a heart attack because with the PE's it's a more severe feeling. Meds are malox and tums for reflux and continue trying to walk more for the fluid. He said the fluid should dry up out of the lung the more i can walk so i'm forcing myself on the treadmill in 15 min. increments - weather here is too hot. Also said stay out of heat. I now feel better. Try OTC maxox or antacid stuff and see if that helps.

Oh and wanted to note that anxiety of any type can increase shortness of breath and bring on other symptoms as told by the dr.

I am so happy I found this support group. I was diagnosed with PE on July 6th, that was a scary experience. I woke up at 4AM unable to breath. Went to the ER, got diagnose and discharged home with eliquis. I started to feel good, until last night I started to experience this severe pain on my chest and difficulty breathing. Went to the ER and there were no old or new clots, however, I still had some fluid in the outer cavity of my right lung, so I was diagnosed with pleurisy. It is so painful, I am just hoping that it will get better soon. My anxiety level is a 10 out of 10 right now. Thank you Baylady for the update on your situation, I hope you feel better soon.

I have had difficulty swallowing when eating as one of my PE symptoms since the problem first started (ten days of symptoms before I was diagnosed). I try to eat slowly in small bites and chew thoroughly. That helps. I'm only three days into my anticoagulant treatment. I hope it goes away soon.

Ednaaurelus - i had the same feeling and response. I hope you feel better soon too. Sounds like we're similiar.... Jodyilynn0887 - i lost my appetite with only wanting small meals. I read that both are common with PE's. Try seeing if it's reflux and take an antiacid liquid like Malox before eating. That seems to help me.

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
