Yeah, I think it's a hematoma too, which happens. I'd just keep an eye on it, and see if it gets bigger. When I had my PE, I passed out on concrete steps. Well, I had tPA in the ER, the mega clot buster. So wherever my body hit the concrete with the most force, I developed a hematoma in that spot, from the tPA. I had one on my chin, my shoulder and my hip. My doc drew a circle with a Sharpie around the one on my hip and on my shoulder due to their size. That way, he could tell if they were getting bigger. I'm not suggesting drawing a circle, just that his approach was wait and see if they get bigger. If yours keeps growing, call your doc.

I still have 4 or 5 lumps from the lovenox all over my stomach. And the doctor said it's nothing to worry about. Just one of the beauties of lovenox.

I still have one, and its almost a year. I went to a vascular dr, he said it is nothing that will harm me. Wait 6 more months, and if it still bothers me he can perform surgery to remove it.

It's been about 6 months now, its smaller but still there. But IMO not worth surgery. (circular reference, since you'd need more lovenox to get the surgery to remove the lovenox hematoma.)

I'm on Clexane/ Lovenox for life.. and have been for the past 7 months today. I inject daily and most of the injection sites have heamatomas with the black bruising you described. I have had 2 lots of these sites drained after they became infected after breaking through to the stomach cavity.... I now inject mainly into my legs or parts of my bottom that I don't sit on. Doing this seems to help with the heamatomas. It seems my stomach is particularly prone to them.
This past weekend I travelled to Adelaide to see my "medical team" and was checked out from head to toe... They weren't concerned about my "black and blue" appearance, but have put me up high on the list for the oral form of the drug when it is released into Australia. :))) That can't be too soon for me.
But yes...it's normal ish...
Most of my big ones can radiate out to about the size of a small saucer..... My 4 yr old grand daughter nearly throws up if she sees them!
And some have scarred and will never go away!

I had that too. It freaked me out, but it is completely normal and has since gone away. It took along time, which is why I was so concerned because the lump was there even when the nasty huge bruise faded finally, which took a long time as well. But it will go away and next time your at the doctor just ask to reassure your husband!

I have been off lovenox/all forms a blood thinners for about 1 1/2 years now! But I do recall getting a few lumps with the injections as well...they never stayed for too long though! If it doesn't go away soon it probably woudln't hurt to ask your doc about it!!

rmb.... same here. I did not fall, but had tPA. So, the site of one of my iv's (they had to use an ultrasound just to get it!) was a massive bruise. Also, where they had to really push while doing the echo in the ER, I had bruises and some pretty big lumps. They lasted for a good month or more after. Point is, doctors were not very concerned as they did not get any bigger. I also had some small ones while on lovenox. But, just kept an eye on them to see if they got any bigger/worse.

I am on injections for life and I get the hematomas from time to time. When one got black and as big as a softball, the hematologist had his clinic run some bloodwork, but it all came out ok. The recomended that I rotate my injection site more. I try to do that, but the belly is easiest. The thighs hurt to sleep on them and the arms hurt a little but is an ok alternate. Good luck.

This is very timely for me since I just noticed one last night. I am certain it's at an injection site, and it hurts to the touch.

I freaked out at first, but then I reminded myself that I have a similar lump on my shin from when I fell in the dark against a tent platform while camping 2.5 years ago. My doctor didn't seem worried about that one at the time. I hope this one goes down in size, and I will ask my doc about it, but it's probably just going to be a nuisance.

Since we started this post, I noticed the few I still have on my stomach are shrinking. It must be one of the joys of lovenox.
