Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

Okay..... being the hard headed person I can be, I thought I could push myself and take an evening walk tonight even tho my body was telling me it was tired and ready to call it a night. I walked last night I reasoned, so why couldn't I do it tonight?
Well let me tell you what...my body has spoken LOUD and CLEAR!!!
I was released from the hospital a week ago this past Tuesday after they found blood clots in both lungs and 2 in my left leg.
I have had very little SOB or chest pain after the first couple of days at home.
Let me tell you tonight it all came roaring back with a passion after I tried to take a short walk.....maybe a good 100 yards at best. I am not too bad on the SOB but the chest is really achy for a change. Of course, the granddaughter is not listening or helping things either. I guess I had better start listening better to my body.
I take a nap every afternoon for 2-3 hours. I usually wake up feeling more tired then when I started the nap. Does anyone else have or had this experience in the beginning?
So for now, I will listen better to my body and do as it wishes. I do not want to revisit the ER for any reason!!

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
One afternoon, I jogged across my workplace to get back to a customer. Maybe 100 feet or so. A couple hours later, my boss sent me home because he thought I looked like I was going to pass out. By the time I got home, I was so exhausted I was crying. I also suddenly had some pain along my breastbone and in my back. A couple days on the couch and I felt a lot better, but I did not expect that wallop, for sure! They even did a repeat CT and the clots were completely gone ... I had just been pushing too hard.
My doctor (nicely) slapped me on the wrist, cut back my hours at work, and told me to take it a little easier. I took another three months to get back up to a full workday and I was really glad I took it easy for a while.
Actually, I had the bouts of pain/SOB/exhaustion up until about 11 months out. They got less frequent and easier to come back from, but I could usually tell ... loud and clear, as you say ... that I had overdone it.
I've never been a napper and always feel weird after a nap. I don't find napping particularly refreshing in general, for me anyway, and didn't nap as a way to recoup during my recovery. I just went to bed really early when I felt exhausted.
I think it's good to try to do stuff and get back to normal activities as soon as possible. But you have to balance that with also resting, taking it easy, being mindful of your body etc. It's a tough balance. It's easy to talk yourself out of not doing stuff for fear of being too tired, which I don't think is good either. It's really just tuning in to when enough is enough. Hard to do if you tend to be a doer anyway.
Right now I'm looking to salvage as much of my summer as possible. My goal is to go camping in August.
I get so long winded. I guess that's a good thing. ;) In any event case kslady43 give your body a chance and before you know it you'll be out their walking without any issues.
I wish you well!
It doesn't look like I will get my morning walk in today. My chest is on the achy side this morning. We are to get rain today also so that might be part of the reason.
At least I did get the paperwork finished up and in the mail that I HAD to get done today. So that will take some pressure off of me.
I know it is still very early in the game and I shouldn't expect to be back to whatever the new normal is going to be yet. I had been down for the 8 weeks prior due to an abscess and was just finally getting back to normal when this hit. I just feel like I have been down forever and I don't like it one little bit!
I haven't been a super active person in the last few years due to age, weight, and health in general but not to be able to go and do what I want to do when I want to do it is still another story.
Glad to know this is all normal !
I probably should have just stayed inside and rested but felt like I needed to make the attempt at least. I made it about 90 yards and turned around and came back. That was more then enough for me for the day.
Hubby comes walking up with granddaughter and tells me they have just walked around 2 whole blocks and that included a small hill! He is trying to walk some as he has multiple health issues...asthma, high blood pressure, overweight, etc. That is all good for him but it made me feel like crap. I couldn't walk to the end of the block today if I had to!! Maybe tomorrow will be a better day!
My doc says its ok to feel "some" pain/discomfort during exercise but definitely stop if pain increases or severe. Bring it up to your doctor. It is good for your body and your recovery to keep moving. I do feel occasional discomfort during a run, but I listen closely to my body and will stop when needed. In the first month of exercise, I did need to take occasional afternoon naps especially after exercise. Now 2.5 months out from PE I don't need to nap :-) I'm not better yet as far as anxiety goes, but exercise helps and is keeping me off anxiety meds.
