By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

I had my PE back in December 2010 following an (undiagnosed) calf muscle injury and then DVT. Long story short I was quite Ill for a few months and went through various scans and tests - nothing. I was always under the impression I had multiple clots and, given my dad had this and I have had miscarriages (no successful pregnancies) that I would be a lifer. Now a year and nearly a half later I finally have a haematologist I trust and she got hold of original scans. She says it was definitely only 1 clot not multiple. Normally this would be straightforward - a year on blood thinning meds - that's it...but given my history and parentage??? Now the docs say that since everything is apparently normal it is up to me. I am having real difficulty deciding whether to stay on or come off the meds. Anyone else had to make a similar decision?

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
I guess your are just going to have to get all your info and then trust your gut instinct, I am going to make the choice that I am most comfortable with, I hope that you come to your own decision soon..Best of Luck :)
Me, I have no family history and no genetic markers. Yet, I've clotted three times. After the last time with multiple bilateral PEs, I was more than happy to become a lifer. But, I tell you that I fought to get off the warfarin the previous two times.
RMB is right. Ultimately it is up to you. You've got to be comfortable with your decision.
