Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
Ladies - Worried about clomid and blood clots

I was just wondering if any of the ladies knew about links between taking clomid for infertility and blood clots?
I had a PE last year after a calf muscle injury. My dad also had pes but all tests for inherited disorders have come back normal.
I was hoping to start a family but have struggled to get pregnant and when I have I have always lost it. I have been trying for 8 years and have had about 6 miscarriages.
The docs say my LH and FSH hormone levels are reversed indicating PCOS (but all scans normal). They are talking about putting me on Clomid but I read somewhere that this can increase the risk of blood clots which is obviously worrying to me. Has anyone had experience of this?
Has anyone gone on to have a family after PE and this many miscarriages? I am 39 and hate the thought that I will never have a family. I also feel so guilty as I am sure that my husband would have had a family with someone else.

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
Arrhythmia, chest pain, edema, hypertension, palpitation, phlebitis, pulmonary embolism, shortness of breath, tachycardia, thrombophlebitis
You may want to contact your pharmacist and ask him specifics on the actual risk, as well as asking your doc. Will you be on anticoags when you take this?
Also, try to put the guilt out your mind. Nothing positive comes out of that. What if it were your husband who was having the issue with conception? I highly doubt you would love him less and wish you were with someone else to have a family. At least I'd hope not. We love are partners through what life gives us or doesn't give us.
Good luck to you!
You might also try the DS Infertility group. I think you would find some support there as well.
I know you must think it's easy for me to say this but stay positive. It sounds like the drs are looking into every avenue to make your wish come true.
Stay well :-)
Jan11 - yes, I have been screened for APS a few times - nothing abnormal showed up. I think I have had just about every scan and test known but nothing except Gonatrophin levels off kilter. I am trying to take that as a positive thing as things might have been a lot worse. I still don't feel as well as I did before my PE but am hoping things will eventually get better.
