Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

Hi there,
Saw my hematologist this morning...heres the update.
showed him my bruise i thought was a clot ... he said theres no way, I did remind him I had been having cramps in both legs on and off and he didnt seem to be very concerned. he is a family friend so Im pretty sure if he had any doubt he would send me across the way to the hospital for a doppler of my legs.
I told him about my issues of using the bathroom very frequently ( I did a post about it and a lot of people are feeling same issue ) but he didnt want to admit that the warafin had anything to do with it, he did another test to make sure i had no infection and then summed it up to over activity due to nerves. Although I trust and like him very much as a doctor I get fustrated that nobody wants to admit the affects the meds. may have on us.
I asked him about a repeat scan before I was off the coumadin, and he told me that they generally dont do ct scans, but dopplers to make sure there isnt any DVTS present. I told him that I just couldnt rest until I knew it was gone. So when I am ready to go off the meds. next june I will have anoher ct scan, doppler of my legs, and another thrombolic work up. I had two work ups done in two different hospitals with no findings, all the hematologists ive seen in the hospital and my current one seem to be pretty confident that it was pure b/c and maybee just laziness I was at a job where I sat A LOT.
SO I guess thats all I have to report my dr. says Im doing great and everythng is going well. He just likes to remind me to exercise and loose weight a lot im abou 30 lbs overweight for my height. I have lost like 5-7 lbs since I left the hospital but its kinda hard to maintain my inr and eat healthy. I had a very stable inr of 2.4-2.6 for like 4 months now these last two times is been 2.2. I think its because I started eating healthy so I have to compromise somewhere I have to eat healthy to loose weight which makes my inr drop UHG no spinach salad tonight! My dr. kept reassuring me that 2.2 was ok and not to be worried but of course I am but i think as long as im 2.0 -3.0 its ok.
I hope everyone is doing well!
And thank you all for your comments on the first 'bruise or blood clot' post I did.
I really appreciate the support of everyone.

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
My inr was 2.3 this morning, really pleased with that. As you said they like to try to keep it between the 2-3 rangeHope you have a good week.
I know what you mean about losing weight and exercise!!!!
Hard work when you have no energy
Take care,

What about just eating healthy and then let your doc figure out the dosage of warfarin that will work with your diet and keep your INR up?
When I had my first DVT/PE, I was removing really good stuff from my diet becuase they had such a hard time keeping me therapuetic. It was a bad idea. My INR was all over the place and it seemed the more I tried to monkey with my diet, the more stressed I got.
With my last DVT, I went back on warfarin and decided, no more messing with my diet. I just eat the way I normally eat, daily salads, veggies, green tea. My doc finally found a dosage that seems to keep me stable for the most part and I still get to eat what I like to eat. The key is that whatever you do eat, you need to do it consistently.
Anyway, that's my plug for healthy diets.

My body seems to be very slowly healing I now am able to ride bike on flat land for a short distance. I am slowly less dizzy. I am 7.5 weeks out from the massive, bilateral, saddle PE, passout. Probably get back to work at the end of the month.
My last inr is 2.7 and I only eat a few greens a day. I stay away from the high K foods. I eat alot of tomatoes and skinned cucumbers, beans and zuchini. I would like to reintroduce garlic.
I just wish my light headedness gets less. Seems like it slowly will. Only 2 stress times last week. Fighting through those now. Determined to control them away from me. Going to a good pulminologist today.
Happy Healing everyone!
