I gotta agree with the others, csteeps. I don't know why your doc would keep you on another month either. Your INR is low, but so what? You're coming off anyway. Bizarre.

And definitely embrace coming off the warfarin! It is a thing to celebrate, for sure, cause it means this whole episode is soon going to be something in your rear-view mirror. Time to move on.

I just came from the doctor and last night was officially my last dose of warfarin! Now to get through the next few days...

Honestly, you can do this! I am embracing it like the others said. I love not having to worry about so much. In fact, I am not leaning towards the subtherapeutic dosing as much as I was. I am taking my hema and primary the study on the aspirin results. I really don't want to get all bogged down again with Coumadin. And I feel so much better off of it!

Just a quick update with mine.
My INR is back at 2.4 this week from its dip to 1.6 last week after holding off the warfarin for 3 days when I peaked at 6.5 the week before.
Unfortunately when I've finally got the confirmation letter from the hospital, they've put me on for an extra 2 months not the 1 month I thought... now counting down to 17th September instead.. :(

Just need to ring them tomorrow and find out what I do about my tooth extraction which has already re-arranged to mid August to avoid the warfarin.
Has anyone else had an extraction done whilst still on warfarin ??
Is it just extra INR tests/dosage adjustments, or is there more to it?

So far things have been a bit rough. I knew my anxiety would be an issue, but it has been AWFUL since my last warfarin. :( I am back to freaking out about every little pain or twinge and constant anxiety. I feel like I've taken a giant step backward, but one I had to take to get through this. I just keep telling myself I've been on 18 hour flights without more than a couple trips to the bathroom, multiple surgeries, and no clots until I had the bc/surgery combo. I'm trying REALLY hard to convince myself my chances of clotting before my tests are done is low but my anxiety brain is having a hard time listening to the rational me!

On a positive note, I haven't had a headache since the day after I stopped warfarin. I was getting them every day, so glad to see those gone! I also feel like the dizziness is getting a little better, the only time I get it now is when my anxiety is super high. I am still exhausted, but that probably isn't helped by the fact that I'm not sleeping well and wake up at least 3-4 times every night. I'm hoping that once the anxiety lets up (hoping it will) I'll finally start to feel better and be able to get on with my life. Thanks for asking! :)

oh, I asked my dentist about having dental work done while I was on warfarin, and he says he does extractions for people on warfarin all the time. I didn't need an extraction, just a crown that would require drilling around the gums. He said I would just need to make sure my INR was in range and plan on spending an extra while sitting in his office b/c he is responsible for making sure the bleeding has completely stopped before leaving. He said with extractions, it sometimes takes up to 30 minutes for the bleeding to stop completely with warfarin, but that it really isn't a big deal, just a little more time consuming. I decided to wait and now get to go hav my crown done next week in high anxiety mode. Maybe not my best decision ever!

Focus on the good bits though, u can have a drink, u can eat what u like. U don't have to worry about random bruises appearing, losing your hair etc. my eyesight got clearer after the warfarin and my brain was less foggy too. Each day u relax a little more. I still have panicky days and then others I'm fine. Good luck
