Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

It wouldn't be so bad if the reason was blood related, but I know (and they do too) that it's the emotional stress I've been under these last few weeks meaning I haven't been eating & sleeping properly which will have affected the INR readings... and it was low this week because they made me stop it for 3 nights to allow it to drop!!
I'd got my head round coming off it too, and it felt like I'd finally get that extra little bit of control back in my life...
It means the screening tests will also be put back too, and I was all psyched up to get them done soon so that I could try and shut the door on this whole miserable year... oh well, not to be...
One plus point is that I no longer need to do the 6 clexane injections when I go on holiday, but the down side it also means I'll be restricted to my one alcoholic drink a day while away...
But on the positive side, it's good to hear that everything is looking up for you Evelov, and I hope you only have the few days extension to yours, JennerM...
I had an INR done before my marriage fell apart and was told not to have another for the last 5 weeks and just have it done on the day I was due to finish... then all went pear shaped and its been all over the place, as high as 6.5 last week, now too low this week again...
I can understand the reasoning behind giving you the extra week with the travelling, but I don't understand why I need to stay on it longer, surely it would be better to just let me stop taking it as originally planned.... because at this rate they could end up leaving me on it for much longer as I can't see things settling down in the near future...
3 days is not long though for you, it's got to be a good thing for you to resume your usual lifestyle without a thought for timings, blood appointments, vitamin k content or INR results. Good luck with your testing xx
Good to hear from you Jmac, glad all is well with you at the moment x

Carol, my aunt had PEs that were directly attributed to HRT. She stopped the hormones, did her 6 months on warfarin and hasn't had any further clots. I'm surprised they are dismissing that as a possibility. It seems to make good sense to me. If all goes well, I now officially have 2 more doses of warfarin (12.5mg total!)!!
jmac...Thank YOU for coming back to report to us and share. We need the encouragement!
Csteeps...I am not sure why the INR mattered if you were going off to be tested? After a few days, it's going to be low anyhow, right? They didn't bother to check mine. And my use of hormones just gets dismissed too. I've actually been wondering about that!
I am continuing to take an aspirin a day, hydrate frequently, continue with my workout, eat healthy. I am getting another sinus infection though. I am noticing that too.
I've got to go google Hughes Syndrome. I wonder if I've been tested for that? I do have Prothrombin Factor II.
2 more days and starting to freak out...
And you guys, it really is a WONDERFUL thing to come off warfarin. I know it feels a little unnerving and stuff, it's not a death march. Your life is starting anew. Try to embrace that.
