By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
My internist called to set up an appointment for the end of August. That in itself is encouraging: tells me there's nothing really bad going on :)
However, I know she had told me that if all was ok, once I'd had the genetic testing and re-scan, she would not call me. So I know that, most likely, something did show up in those tests. Doubt she has the results from the scan, as that was on Tuesday morning... though she does work in the hospital and it could be she was sent the tests immediately, before the radiologist had a chance to interpret the results... so many questions!
I also got a call from my gp to set up an appointment for this Friday, well, I think it was for me: there was one for my MIL and I'm pretty sure the other was for me... unless it was for my son. Soooo confused.
So, yes, I am anxious and worried. On the one hand, I hope that something did show up in those tests to explain why I clotted, as I had 0 risk factor, and I hope it's something relatively benign. I'm hoping that this will give me the risks for clotting again.
On the other hand, I worry that it is something serious that could lead to even more issues.

Can I ask why you see both a GP and an Internist? None of my business but just curious because my Internist is my primary care doc so there's no reason to have a GP.
As far as calling her and get explanations over the phone, there's a stupid law that won't allow doctors to do that over the phone or something: don't know how many times I had to go for appointments, just to be told was ok.
