Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
Increased cough, hard to breathe deep, chest pain?

My INR last Wednesday was 4.0. Doc had me skip the Coumadin Thursday and Friday and I've been alternating between 10 mg and 11 mg since Saturday.
Yesterday I had a rare day of increased energy since the discovery of my second bout of bilateral PE's 3 weeks ago. I did a full day of work then went grocery shopping. I was totally wiped out when I got home.
By the time I went to bed at 10:30, I was having increased chest pains, coughing (which I really haven't stopped doing for weeks but it's gotten worse since last night), wheezing and I feel like I can't get a deep breath. I couldn't lay flat last night and even sitting back propped up with pillows and a wedge didn't help. I ended up sitting up most of the night. I didn't want to go to the ER.
So today, I've been really winded, still feeling the stuff I felt last night (along with a headache). I see the pulmonologist on Thursday and I'm having an echo on Thursday as well.
Questions: Should I wait til Thursday or go to the ER today? Could skipping a few days of Coumadin affect the PE's?

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
I don't think the missed warfarin of dosages would have acted this quickly to somehow cause a clot or make your existing PEs worse. I mean, I guess anything is possible but the likelihood is probably low. But you may want to call your doctor and ask what he thinks. I know it's so hard to know what to do sometimes.
I'm with rmb in that I had more pain after being diagnoses than I did when diagnosed. I was pretty much pain-free at diagnosis and then had it get lots worse at four weeks out when I overdid it too much.
I've discovered that even if I have been doing well, I have periodic days or weeks where I am just tired all the time and can't seem to get enough rest. It comes and goes at random times, but I'm learning to just take it easy those few days and relax. I'll be better in a couple of days.
BUT ... it is hard to find a balance here and I've done trips to the doc and ER where nothing was found even though I was really SOB or the pain had gotten worse. Still, I would call your doc and see what advice you get. Sometimes getting it checked out (and finding nothing) is better than just hoping something isn't wrong (and stressing!).
Hang in there!
